What he's trying to say is that even crosswalks aren't safe in Mtl. It's not so much you cross at your own rich, as at your own peril.
 
I was brought up to respect my elders, and I do for the most part,
times have changed, and so have some of the elders.
I treat the like (supposedly) the law. Innocence until proven guilty.
If I give and elder respect, and they don't return the favor,
it won't come around again. Of coarse I'm that way by everybody actually.
