Somewhat. Sounds more like the life of the Negro in Africa who was sold into slavery by his rival tribe after being defeated in war. Or maybe by his own tribe...that was commom as well.

Of course, everybody is busy bending over backward to apologize for the horrific treatment of blacks in America. In that regard, there is a difference. Blacks were freed. Southerners were not, despite their best efforts to attain it peacefully. We're expected to just sit quietly and allow the subjugation to continue for another 250 years.

All I can say is that if we don't learn our history, how can we learn from it?

It doesn't say anywhere in that article that they are pushing any sort of views onto these fourth graders. They are simply learning what it was like to be a soilder during that time period. They are learning about the hardships of war, not how to be prejduice against minorities.
