No, that is not an exageration, it was a tragedy.
with beefed up security, and new policies the chances of it happening again are low.
you have the war on terror, started by George W. and it did help get him re-elected.
But using the spectre of terrorism anytime anyone questions the Gov't is how it is being exagerated, and missused.
To question the gov't is part of democracy. The erosion of civil rights under homeland security is also a mis-use of that fear.
Giving up your rights to get what you beleive is extra protection cause the ones who are taking your rights tell you it's for your own good.
Also Terrorism as a word is being misused, listing names of common criminals as terrorists? Just shows the fear mongering has worked. Fear of japanese in the second world war led to internment camps on US soil, will the new fear of muslims also lead to camps such as these, where innocent AMERICANS (cause some where born there, and are PROUD to be american) will be stripped of thier rights and locked away. Maybe it is not an exageration, maybe the terrorist will destroy the US, just not in the way you expected.

No sir, it was an attack.
Started by a group of terrorists attacking Israeli athletes in Muich in 1972. The final straw was the attack by a group calling themselves al qaida. It was, and is, the opening salvos in what will be deemed a holy war & quite probably WW3.
Hasn't happened.
Not so much during a war..

Patterns that you fail to see are hardly unjustified fear.

We were attacked. The free world is under imminent threat. A rehash od Neville Chamberlain standing at the door of the 3rd Reich & failing to see INVASION PLANS written everywhere.
It's ok, once again, the USA will protect you.

to clear up a point
the war on terror, in afganistan was needed, there was an attack, and retaliation was nessesary.
The Iraq thing....I believe that if the reasons given for going in I would be behind it.
BUT for the war on terror to work, you need more than bombs, you need education, and calling every muslim a terrorist is uneducated, even if they are criminals. And then you need to educate muslims in foreign counties that the USA is not the great satan.

the line between average muslim and religious extremist is coming blurred in the media. and in the minds of the average joe.
I'm guilty of that & not ashamed to admit it. When they begin to stand up & take back their religion, I'll belive them. Until then, its nothing but PR campaign #3568

Look at the response this thread got. The entire world is going out of its way to appease Muslims while simultaneously ridiculing Jews & especially Christians. They want Under God removed while putting prayer rooms in. They demand the Ten Commandments be removed while allowing amplified prayer calls. On & on it goes.
Islamofascists is a great term for muslim terrorists. We need to discriminate. Not many pregnant black women are attempting to blow up commercial airliners. Just as soon as the peaceful muslims stand up & decide to protect their religion & their people (as well as non-Muslims) this will end quickly. Until then, sorry but all Arab men will be suspect.
