It took Thanksgiving over 70 years to go from ho-hum to a set national holiday (The original GW proclaimed it & SnPs favorite Prez make it the last Thursday in Nov)

President Thomas Jefferson scoffed at the idea of having a day of thanksgiving, finding it ridiculous that we celebrate a bunch of socialist misfits having a bad winter.
