Southern Discomfort
Public school officials in San Bernadino, Calif. will be incorporating Ebonics into a new grade school curriculum in an effort to try and improve black students' academic performance, according to the San Bernadino Sun.

Under the policy, known as the Students Accumulating New Knowledge Optimizing Future Accomplishment Initiative (SANKOFAI???), school officials will be "affirming and recognizing Ebonics through supplemental reading books." School Board member Danny Tillman, who pushed for the policy, said he hopes the new policy will increase the number of black students going to college and participating in advanced courses.

Ebonics, described as "a dialect of American English spoken by many blacks throughout" America, was recognized as a separate language in 1996 by the Oakland school board.

Yeah, bitch. Hooked up on ebonics and shit worked for me, dawg. Word.

I've mentioned this before, but the whole idea of ebonics leaves me with the impression of a group of self-important liberal white jerk-offs sitting around a room saying, "Pity the poor black child, intellectually disadvantaged to the point that they would clearly be unable to learn proper English." Of course, if some guy in a white sheet said, "Them n-----s is too stupid ta larn English right," that would be racism, wouldn't it?

So, instead of insisting that the little darlings learn proper english, they're dumbing down the actual language so that grades will improve. This is what comes of tying school funding, teacher pay raises, and HOPE scholarships primarily to GPA's. Grades and the underpinning grading system are too easy to game. We need to come up with new metrics, and tie this shit to improvements apples-to-apples, not straight grades.

Picture 20 years from now, applying for a loan.

Yo dog, yo shit be down wit it.

Huh?

We gots the cash if you gots the game, bro.

Ok?

Just chill, while I axe you a few.

?

This whole idea is fucked up. I see it like HL, we're not encouraging them to do better, we're allowing them to make the rules. That's always a good idea.

We can use them in the next war as code talkers within military communications. I seriously doubt the North Koreans could crack what they are saying in open air now let alone a coded mess.

LONDON (Reuters) - The word "fail" should be banned from use in British classrooms and replaced with the phrase "deferred success" to avoid demoralizing pupils, a group of teachers has proposed.

Members of the Professional Association of Teachers (PAT) argue that telling pupils they have failed can put them off learning for life.

A spokesman for the group said it wanted to avoid labeling children. "We recognize that children do not necessarily achieve success first time," he said.

"But I recognize that we can't just strike a word from the dictionary," he said.

The PAT said it would debate the proposal at a conference next week.
