The Death Penalty

Countries and territories which retain the death penalty for ordinary crimes"
Don't know what you think, but I really don't think Murder can be considered an "ordinary" crime.

Wouldn't most people consider Japan to be a pretty civilized nation? They're on the list too.

and PT also made an excellent point. Define an "ordinary" crime. No one's been put to death for anything that wasn't murder-related in the US in ages. No one's been executed for jaywalking, insider trading, shoplifting, or even grand theft or rape.

Yea. What I'm after is the ultimate legal revenge. I'm not opposed to the death penalty. I'm opposed to allowing government to have legal precedence to kill us.

I think you mentioned it once before but wasnt it: I am opposed to govt sanctioned killing? Personaly I would agree but I would rather the person be dead. Govt or not

“According to Amnesty International's annual report on official judicial execution, in 2003 there were 1,146 executions in 28 countries. 88% of the deaths occurred in five countries. The People's Republic of China (PRC) carried out 726 executions. Iran executed 108 people, the United States 65, Vietnam 64, and Saudi Arabia 52.”

So because the US, and most of the rest of the worlds population, isn't like Europe, we're bad? How quaint! Perhaps it's the other way around...perhaps Europe is backwards, and the rest of the world is correct. You like that idea?

Here's another though tfor you, since you think convicted criminals have the very same rights they took from the law-abiding public...

Saudi Arabia had one of the lowest, if not the lowest, crime rate in the world when that survey was taken. Ask yourself why... :lloyd:
