The time for talking is almost over at the 2004 Copa América in Peru. After 19 days of hard-fought football, continental heavyweights Brazil and Argentina go head to head tomorrow in Lima for the right to be called South American champions. Despite the long history of rivalry between the sides, tomorrow’s clash will be the first time the two have met in a Copa final.
The match – scheduled for a 15:00 (local time) kick off with Paraguay’s Carlos Amarilla officiating – will bring the curtain down on a competition that will be remembered for its wealth of goals and drama. The continental showpiece will next be played in Venezuela in mid 2008, as all eyes now turn squarely to 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany qualifying™.
