The next leader of the PLO/Palestine...

Not much better but can anyone, even Saddam Hussein, be any worse?

Things can change if world pressure is applied. He hasn't had to deal with this weight directly yet so we don't know how he'll react but it couldn't possibly be any worse than Arafats rule. I'm not holding my breath but there is always hope.

Even in death he'll destroy the Palestinians.

The problem is that Arafat is still the only Palestinian official who can pay the bills. And it is unclear who, if anyone, has access to the estimated $2-3 billion in his personal Swiss bank accounts, according to a report in the current edition of Geostrategy-Direct.com. Even his wife is said to be unaware of how to access the funds.

They're already destroyed. If it actually looks like they might have a viable leader the money will come. Israel alone would be more than willing to hand over billions if they thought it would go to something positive. The point is that we have a chance at a fresh start here. Or it can go the direction of the latest Jpost headline:

Arafat 'brain dead' Hamas calls for collective leadership

Which is basically the merger of two terrorist organizations in Hamas and the PLO. We need to be organizing a group of passionate thinkers to instantly communicate the situation with the next leader of the Palestinians that they have one chance to go down in history a true peacemaker or to let their children continue to live in hell on earth.

And we've all seen how the swiss work hard to ensure that monies entrusted to them make it to the next of kin.

Borrowed from another thread:

Ahmed Queria (67) - PM of the Palestinian Authority..close to Arafat. Not a lot of power with the PLO and not popular with the 4.5million Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza

Mahmoud Abbas (69) - Deputy of the PLO - often seen during negotiations with US and Israel. He's old guard PLO and not popular with the younger population

Marwan Barghouti (44) - Second most popular person in all of Palestine (after Arafat). He was prison though...serving 5 consecutive life sentences for attacks on Israeli citizens. Not a nice alternative.

Mohammad Dahlan (43) - Chief of security for Gaza, backed by his own militia. He's a good 'politician' with experience working through Israel.

He did work towards peace...or at least tried to. Whos to say that his successor will do better?

This beast we know. The one we don't would be hard pressed to fail any worse.
