Hmmm...You're missing a very important point. He didn't kill the creatures in the ark because those creatures were following his orders. Those in Sodom and Gomorrah were disobeying. If you remember, Lot, and his family, were told to leave, and not look back, so they grabbed their gear, and took off running...they ran from 'wickedness'. Lot's wife, however, looked back and was turned into a pillar of salt. That's why the whole area was cleansed...much as the area was cleansed when the flood came.
