Is there any particular reason why France and Syria can serve on the Security Council but not Israel? Why can't we make Israel a permanent member with veto power? Afterall, it has nuclear weapons. And I'd wager the same to go for Pakistan and India?

Yep, I don't think they have to just have Nukes to get a seat, the permanant seats have more to do with Money, Power, and Responsibility. I'm not saying it couldn't be changed, just that the only prerequisite isn't Nukes.

While we're at it, can we pull Iraq from the Disarming Commission & Libya from the Human Rights Commission?

Where's the beef?

WASHINGTON - Iraqi fighter jets threatened two American U-2 surveillance planes, forcing them to abort their mission and return to base, senior U.S. officials said Tuesday.

In Baghdad, an Iraqi official described the incident as a "technical mistake" by the U.N. inspectors.
