Is starting to piss me off.

A Florida man sought in his ex-girlfriend's beating death remained atop an 18-story crane early Friday, ignoring pleas of negotiators and his sister to give himself up.

Carl Edward Roland, 41, climbed the crane at an Atlanta construction site about 4 p.m. Wednesday. He has spent most of the time lying on a metal grate on the crane's arm.

This idiot is the same as interstate jumpers who tie up trafic for unbelievable amounts of time, only worse. He's downtown, screwing with uncountable numbers of people.

My idea - one hour. If you can't get your shit together in one hour and let the rest of us get on with our lives, we have the right to end your little standoff any way we see fit.

He's imposing real costs on the folks who work on that construction site, the business owners in that neighborhood, anyone who has to commute down that section of Peachtree (A LOT!) and the city of Atlanta as a whole.

Get the fucker down now.

shit or get off the pot. If you're gonna do it, do it, if he can't do it, i agree, shoot the fucker down and it will be one less idiot in the world.
 
so if he comes down we will have to pay for the trial, the incarceration, and hopefully the subsequent execution. the way i look at it shooting him is a service.
 
I'd say get back to work and start using the crane again with him on it. If he falls, oh well. If he doesn't, then he starves.
 
If he doesn't jump, there will probably be huge bills for psychiatric stuff.
See that's what's screwed here. You do some crazy/wacked out stuff, kill somebody,
and you get all this free(for them) help, but if you're like my brother
and need help for his bipolar-schizophrenia, you can't get jack.
Just have to wait til he kills one of us I guess. :alienhuh:

Does the FL Swat Department have Sharpshooters? Why not use em?
 
You guys don't know how much it costs to actually put that dope out of his misery, do ya'? The cost of the bullet, the inevitable lawsuit from surviving family members, the psychiatric help that the witnesses are going to 'need', not to mention the shooter, the cost of cleaning up the blood, etc, from the construction site...Just inflate one of those Hollywood airbags under him, and push his dumb-ass off the crane. If he survives the fall, arrest him, if he doesn't, use the airbag to wrap up his remains (like a big burrito), and drop him in the local landfill. :rolleyes: Always the hard way with you folks.

Are SWAT teams by state to state like cops? I thought they were federal? I may have misworded my post since FL cops have no power unless GA allows them to

Gonz was being a little sarcastic I think. I believe what he was
getting at is that the Ga-swat would have to do the shooting.

This isn't a swat case though really. I think a street-city cop should pick him off. :brush:
 
Oh I just happened to think though. Since he did cross the state line,
this would be a FBI case, and that's probably why this shit isn't dead yet.
