Dear Dad,

A funny thing happened to me yesterday at Camp Bondsteel (Bosnia): A French army officer walked up to me in the PX, and told me he thought we (Americans) were a bunch of cowboys and were going to provoke a war in Iraq. He said if such a thing happens, we wouldn't be able to count on the support of France. I told him that it didn't surprise me. Since we had come to France's rescue in World War I, World War II, Vietnam, and the Cold War, their ingratitude and jealousy was due to surface [again] at some point in the near future anyway.

I also told him that is why France is a third-rate military power with a socialist economy and a bunch of pansies for soldiers. I additionally told him that America, being a nation of deeds and action, not words, would do whatever it had to do, and France's support, if it ever came, was only for show anyway. Just like in ALL NATO exercises, the US would shoulder 85% of the burden, and provide 85% of the support, as evidenced by the fact that this French officer was shopping in the American PX, and not the other way around.

He began to get belligerent at that point, and I told him if he would like to, I would meet him outside in front of the Burger King and whip his ass in front of the entire Multi-National Brigade East, thus demonstrating that even the smallest American had more fight in him than the average Frenchman.

He called me a barbarian cowboy and walked away in a huff.

With friends like these, who needs enemies?

Dad, tell Mom I love her,

Your loving daughter,
Mary Beth Johnson Lt. Col., USMC

even the smallest American had more fight in him than the average Frenchman

I think that sums it up. In fact, the whole letter sums it up pretty well.

yeah, funny thing a soldier has to tell her own dad that she was at some camp and has to add in which country that is...i'm pretty sure her dad would already know.

pretty lame letter...it's stupid to generalize americans as cowboys, but it's just as stupid to generalize the french as well.

pathetic and biased against are keywords here.

You might be surprised Shadow, there are several soldiers that inform their parents where they are by letter. Some because they don't know where they are going until they get there. And If my brother wrote me and told me he was at Camp Bondsteel, I wouldn't know off hand that was in Bosnia.

Don't forget to mention that she put her name on the letter as well. After all, dad surely needs to be reminded who his own daughter is.

I think that the two parts in () were done afterwards by the first person to put the letter on the internet as an aside claification to the reader. I seriously doubt that the Colonel did it.

The letter is fake ok? But it is such a good comparison :)

the letter is fake?!

i'm shocked. no really. no really. yes, prejudiced people making up letters are always a good source for good comparisons...

so...all arabs are terrorists, all americans are cowboys, all dutch are weed smoking people, all germans are nazi's...and so on and so on...

yes, very good comparisons here...

The same people who damn the press for being biased now applaude an obviously faked and biased letter from a probable imaginary servicewoman...:retard: Find a line, people. Try to walk it as if you weren't drunk with emotion.....

A distinction should be made between the French People and their leaders I suppose...here anyway...

Jacques Chirac and his administration are cowards.

..and hypocrites....

One excellent thing that happened was that this paragon of virtue and peace...he who codemns murder and strife....the VERY SAME person who tosses out the term "international law" eacdh and ewvery chance he gets...

..has personally invited Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe tot he Pan African econ conference in Paris...

a man under indictment for torture and murder in the Hague. A man who has admitted funneling millions of dollars in health aid to his own accounts, and a man who has been one of the very worst violators of human rights ever...

.....France and Germany, among others, have done nothing more than give aid and comfort to a petty despot...

It doesn't get any simpler than that...
