Today I saw

Today I saw a turtle laying some eggs in the back yard. Saw her dig at least 2 holes. The eggs were a lot larger then I expected.
It was a painted turtle. Looked it up and the eggs will hatch in 72-80 days, putting it mid-August.
It'll be a longshot, but I'll keep an eye out.

Fortunately, it was just a painted turtle. Our little pond is too small to support a snapping turtle.

We have a lot of them in the little pond out back.
Here are a few of them sunning themselves.

Awwww! I love them all sunning on the log! That's the cutest thing ever!

What a coincidence - I was out riding around on the tractor yesterday and saw the same thing. Almost ran over her before I saw her.

They were due to hatch last week.
Haven't seen any little holes in the ground yet.
