Today's the Day

aaaaaaaanyway...we have a Liberal minority gov't with PC or whatever the heck they call themselves now as opposition.

Hello to a few years of absolutely nothing getting accomplished

I still thinks its bit early for a defintive on the Minority/majority. Looks like it'll either be the Libs/BQ or Libs/NDP either way the Conservalliance isn't gonna be in charge :p

you just think so cause you're out there on the left coast :p

on the local news they're callin it.

134 Lib/92 Con/56 BLOC/24 NDP/1 Other (Green?)

Alot of the races out here are within 200 votes with only 20% of the votes ,I'm sure Alberta ,Saskatchewan are similar.

cbc is predicting it too. For the love of god I hope not...but I think the NDP can't catch that far up

TORONTO - Prime Minister Paul Martin and his Liberals have survived a near-death experience to win a minority government – Canada's first in 25 years.

Paul Martin watches results come in (CP photo)

The CBC decision desk predicted a Liberal minority victory at 10:23 p.m. EDT. At the time, the Liberals were elected or leading in about 125 ridings, compared to 83 for the Conservatives, 53 for the Bloc Québécois and 19 for the NDP.

The one independant is in Surrey North where Chuck Cadman is leading and will hopefully win. There was alot of shenanigans with the nomination for that riding and Cadman was beat out for the Liberal (?) nomination .Even if it meant the Libs losing a riding ,Its a positive step for a great guy.

Is it done yet? Can we start making fun of the new Canadian socialists or are the elections still happening?

Oh, and what the hell is a Conservalliance? Sounds like a PI firm.

Conservalliance = Progressive Conservatives + Alliance ,basically the Alliance merged with the Conservatives in hopes of concentrating their voter base. The problem I had with it, is the Alliance kept its leadership and simply changed to the Conservative banner and hoped people wouldn't remember their old Alliance platform .

And you may want to wait a few days/weeks as there are a number of ridings that are gonna be recounts and then there is the likelyhood that the Minority Government will fail(if history tells us anything) and we get to do this whole thing over again.:rolleyes:

Ah, ok

Now those, I'd believe from the nature of their name, would be considered NEOCONs.
Nope Alliance are the Neo Naz... umm I mean Neocons

Political spectrum:

Left ..........................................................................................Right

NDP.......................... Liberal...........Conservative ......................................... Alliance

As soon as the wife gets home ,I'll be going to vote and I'll be voting for the same party I always have .This is going to be the first election where we(BC) will be getting the results at the same time as the rest of the country.Up until now they held off on the results from the East until our polls close and by that time the results were a done deal and the winning party was already known. It kinda gave us the feeeling that our votes made no difference :crying4: .This time with it being such a close election our votes will make a difference and the rest of the country will have to wait for us ,to see whom the winner is. :swing:
So now you'll get to deal with the same shit we have to in California. The news networks start projecting winners after the polls close in the central time zone, and sometimes even in the eastern time zone. That means that when people get off work out here, they're hearing who won on the way to the polls, because the projections start pouring in at 5 or 6 and the polls close at 8. Not much motivation to vote if you ask me.
