TORONTO - Prime Minister Paul Martin and his Liberals have survived a near-death experience to win a minority government – Canada's first in 25 years.

The CBC decision desk predicted a Liberal minority victory at 10:23 p.m. EDT. At the time, the Liberals were elected or leading in about 125 ridings, compared to 83 for the Conservatives, 53 for the Bloc Québécois and 19 for the NDP.
Cadman had lost the nomination in March to former TV news anchor Jasbir Cheema, who had signed up 1,500 new members in the six weeks leading up to the nomination meeting.
Cadman was critical of "instant Conservatives," saying bulk memberships undermine the democratic process.
Conservalliance = Progressive Conservatives + Alliance ,basically the Alliance merged with the Conservatives in hopes of concentrating their voter base. The problem I had with it, is the Alliance kept its leadership and simply changed to the Conservative banner and hoped people wouldn't remember their old Alliance platform .Gonz said:Is it done yet? Can we start making fun of the new Canadian socialists or are the elections still happening?
Oh, and what the hell is a Conservalliance? Sounds like a PI firm.
Progressive Conservatives
Nope Alliance are the Neo Naz... umm I mean NeoconsGonz said:Ah, ok
Now those, I'd believe from the nature of their name, would be considered NEOCONs.
So now you'll get to deal with the same shit we have to in California. The news networks start projecting winners after the polls close in the central time zone, and sometimes even in the eastern time zone. That means that when people get off work out here, they're hearing who won on the way to the polls, because the projections start pouring in at 5 or 6 and the polls close at 8. Not much motivation to vote if you ask me.A.B.Normal said:As soon as the wife gets home ,I'll be going to vote and I'll be voting for the same party I always have .This is going to be the first election where we(BC) will be getting the results at the same time as the rest of the country.Up until now they held off on the results from the East until our polls close and by that time the results were a done deal and the winning party was already known. It kinda gave us the feeeling that our votes made no difference .This time with it being such a close election our votes will make a difference and the rest of the country will have to wait for us ,to see whom the winner is.
