Has anyone here ever visited Uluru? This piece of rock has a circumference of 9.4 km and is about 345 meters high. (that is ~1,100 feet) It is much bigger than it looks, and is a very impressive sight to see. I need to go there one day.

I went, I saw, I conquered :)

It is a lot bigger then I'd ever anticipated. You climb up at a very sharp angle, using a chain set in place, to steady yourself. In the picture you posted, the way up is on the large flat-looking area on the right-front of the rock.

Once you reach the top of that, you're about half way to the top. You still have to walk all the way accross the top of it to the peak.

At the base of the rock, there's a section nick named "Chicken Rock". It has no guiding chain, and if you can't make it past that point, it's recommended you give up right there.

Never been there :(

There was a theory about that rock being an asteroid, was there? Or was that already proven? Or was it just a rock? I can't remember anymore :)
