yes. they may not always support us but america should help others since it would be better to gain others trust and whatnot

I'm with Prof, Support them in what? If they're being attacked, yep, we'll help em out, even if when it's over they'll just say they didn't really need our help anyway, we'll still do it.

To paraphrase Rumsfield, let me explain what's wrong with your question...

In the first place, those who agree with France don't see their actions as a failure to support the US, so they're not going to agree with the premise of your question. In the second place, as some have already pointed out, "support" is too vague a term for anyone to be able to answer the question with a 'yes' or 'no'. In the third place, it's not the business of France to support US policy. France is supposed to look out for France. My problem with the French is that I think they sacrificed there long-term security in favor of short term financial gain. The only official "punishment" I think they should suffer is being prevented from profiting from the rebuilding of Iraq. Like a lot of other Americans, I've developed a distaste for French products, so I think they're also going to see a decline in product sales in the US. I would be opposed to an official embargo or higher tarrifs on French products, though.

Official. I like that word.

Hmmm. Heheh. Maybe I should have been more exact. :D

The only thing our government should do about the failure of the French to support the overthrow of Saddam is prevent them from participating in the rebuilding of Iraq.

How's that? :)

Back to: support them in/for what?

* fails to mention that many weapons being found are post gulf war I french, german & russian
