Wanted: Dentures for the school board!

School used to be a place to learn all about life, the skills you'll need to succeed in life, and a great place to learn social skills and the proper way to behave.

Welcome to the 21st century.

Now..school is now a place where children are coddled, there is no such thing as failure, bullying isn't punished and you can get you MBA without having to know how to read or write.

Yes, boys and girls...yet another tooth has been pulled from the 'teeth' of teachers and the school board, thanks to the all new PC world...and it looks like the gap-toothed school system will soon be needing dentures.

Now...not only are teachers no longer allowed to say that an answer is 'wrong', when it is...but they're no longer allowed to praise good answers for the fear of traumatising the other students into silence by NOT praising everyone equally.

From the strictness of yesteryear past meritorious-rewards in the school, and right to let everyone pass, regardless of skills, merit or effort and cheer them on while they're doing it.

We're heading for a generation of idiots, who can't read or write and worth yet...have never heard the word "No". God help us all!

Gonz: I'll bite. How?

Regarding the original post, we have the same situation here on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, though maybe not to the same extent. It's quite sad, i wish there was more discipline in today's schools. And yes, i'm saying that in spite of being a student myself since i feel that my friends and I need more discipline.

Homeschooling works. Ask me how.

I've got a friend with 3 kids...all of them are being home-schooled until grade 2 or so... but the GVT asks for records after that...or no HS or University.

That...and it requires 1 parent to stay at home...not always financially viable.
I wish that it was though...frankly, MrsBish could do a better job than 90% of the crippled teachers out there...and one-on-one too

I think when they reach the age where they have to produce or starve, the smart ones will produce and the dumb ones will starve. Natural selection applies to societies too.

They won't starve. They'll work the welfare system. Isn't it great?

Did you know that Social Security has only 2 viable decades left? They may try to work the welfare system, but, if SS fails, then welfare is next...
