That sums it up well enough.

The most comprehensive survey ever into the state of the planet concludes that human activities threaten the Earth's ability to sustain future generations.
BBC

The human race is living beyond its means. A report backed by 1,360 scientists from 95 countries - some of them world leaders in their fields - today warns that the almost two-thirds of the natural machinery that supports life on Earth is being degraded by human pressure.

Since it's already dead I suggest an SUV for everybody & a nuclear heater for winter.

Sustain?

Well mebbe not every one of the soon to be eight billion people on earth can all have:

A level of lifestyle comparable to the poor in America

But they sure as hell can dream to aspire to such an existence, can't they?

OH GOD I LOVE THAT!!
-----------
Living conditions were improving dramatically and poverty was dropping sharply long before the War on Poverty began. The principal effect of the War on Poverty has been not to raise incomes, but to displace self-sufficiency with dependence. A second consequence of welfare has been the destruction of families. When the War on Poverty began, 7.7 percent of children were born out of wedlock. Today, the figure is 32 percent. Using the Census Bureau's own standards, a child born to a never-married mother is 700 percent more likely to live in poverty than is a child born to a husband and wife whose marriage remains intact

The earth will recover from whatever we do to it... whether it can still sustain humans is another story.

When I try to make this point I get chastised for it. I guess they like you better than they like me. :mope:

Hey Winky, the "War" on Poverty, huh? Much like the "War" on Drugs and the "War" on Terror. They sound pretty, anyway.

The ones doing the chastising are on her side so of course they like her better.
