What do you think about this digital camera?

8megs of mem isn't very much for a 3megapixel at high res.
I don't think you'd only get 2-3 pictures like that, before you'd
have to upload um.

I like Jvc, but I think they are over priced.
FujiFilm makes a nice one.;)

I've been looking at Fuji. The FinePix A303 looks like a pretty good deal in that price range. Look for optical zoom as opposed to digital zoom. And go for 128MB card if you can afford it..... Just my 2¢

I don't know, its tempting, but I haven't heard too much about jvc and digital cams. I have one of their digital camcorders though.

here is a review of it.

don't take it too seriously. they didn't like my fuji finepix 2400 a whole lot, but I think its a great camera.

Personally I life fuji the most, you get the most for your money, generally, but this JVC is trying to proove other wise I guess. Well, remember, this is a discontinued model, thus the deep discounts. This time of year the market is flooded with discontinued models, so you should find plenty other good deals as well. Its up to you. The price is right, but I expect there will be other discontinued models that are just as deeply discounted soon.

its about $50 (US) cheaper than even a fuji 3mp so I'm not sure. I woudl consider it.

It SEEMS to have a 3x optical zoom. I found one site that said this at least (out of 5 or so) so I hope its true. Assuming it has it, then maybe I would go ahead and get it. However, there is still the possibility that you might find a better deal on another discontinued model, maybe even a 4.0mp camera.

Well good luck, its a tough call.

Well, squiggy seems to imply that it doesn't have an optical zoom, which I was wondering myself because I only saw it on one site listed with an optical zoom. If it doesn't have it, don't buy at any price (ok any price over $100) cuz its not worth it.

yeah, but the reason the other one is so cheap is because its a discontinued model. These will be discontinued soon as well.

there is a 2 mp model for $155 US.

and this for $159

Personally i would go with these cheap ones they have 3x optical zoom, and I rarely even use full resolution with my 2.1 mp cam. The files end up too big. My uncle has a 4 mp, and the files are enoumous. He gave me a disk full of photos from my wedding, I think they averaged about 5mb per photo. Its really not necessary to have more than 2mp unless you are really like some kind of serious photographer, or you really need to have the best.

I do like the ones above that are a little more expensive, but just because they are really cheap for a 6x optical zoom!!!

Actually, is $319 that much more really? I mean the JVC is over $250. Whats $65 (I know its $100 Canadian, it sounds worse that way, reminds me of the casino in Windsor :))? Besides as i said, wait for them to be discontinued. I could see these going for say $289 US or somewhere in that ball park.

Actually, the more I think about it, you would be best to buy the 2mp camera for $155 and get a 64-128mb smart media card to go with it. That makes the most sense really!!!

I'm on a student budget right now... Money is extremely tight. $100 is actually 13 or so movie tickets to me. Hehe.

I too think a 2megpix is all thats really needed.
That's a pretty big picture, and a pretty fine picture.
I wouldn't go below 2 though.;)

yeah, i like that 2800 too. That sounds like a good deal. Its only one movie ticket more than the JVC and it has a 6x optical zoom :D Ok, and another movie ticket for shipping.

Just download 2 movies on Kazaa, and your right back where you started ;)

They had one for $265 US. That not bad, only $11 US more than the JVC.

The only down side is 2mp, and even thats not so much of a down side if you are truly on a student budget. Cuz if you are, you can't afford a huge memory card to go with it to take those hi res pics. My uncle has 2 128mb sticks for his, and he fills them pretty quick at full resolution. I'd settle for 2mp and go with the 6x optical zoom fuji 2800.

In fact, I almost bought one of these myself before my last trip to Europe. I wanted it just for the 6x zoom. I didn't though, cuz I foolishly thought that it was worth waiting for a 4mp cam. Actually, unless you want to print something larger than 8-10 you probably don't need more than 3mp and 2mp isn't so bad. I don't really print ANYTHING so 2mp is more than enough, as I said, I usually use medium resolution even at that, so I can keep the file size around 350kb. At max resolution its about 700kb so you would need a larger smart media card even with a 2mp cam.

I've been checking out 2 mp camaras in my price range and come up with the Canon A40 as the best one according to user reviews and features of the camara.
