I think that I am missing something here. Weren't we all having a good time starting a new board? What happened to that spirit of fun and friendliness? Are people squaring off already just like they did in the old ot forum?
I've noticed that when I chat with people that they quit answering me like they are giving me the cold shoulder. I would rather they just told me where to go instead. It makes me wonder if they really want me around? ?(

I'm pissed off because I can't express myself without having people bitch at me for being a bad Mod by saying stuff like that. I thought this board was about freedom of speach and expression? But when I say "fuck" I get lectured about how a Mod is not supposed to say that sort of thing. And when I post a cartoon that expresses my feelings about the friendly fire incident, I again am talked down like I am a little child who knows nothing and that I am a total fuck hole for even thinking of posting such a thing.
I asked fury to take me off as a Mod because I'm sick of being expected to be all perfect and Godly, like a Moderator should be.

s4 I hope that a cold shoulder is not an impression you have got from me. I'm taking your post as such though just because of where it is. I have no negative feelings about you whatsoever, we really have not had any contact before this board opened, and I feel the experience knowing you so far has been positive for me. I consider you a leslie-friendly persona on this board, and hope you consider me s4 friendly. If you feel that I have given you the cold shoulder in any way, pm me and we'll talk about it. I'm off to bed shortly as it is 1:30am, but will be happy to chat in the morning if you wish.

No Leslie, I wasn't talking about you. I was chatting with a couple of people this evening, and they just quit answering me. There was no cya or bbl, no answer at all. It's happened before. I am talking about icq, not the board.
I have enjoyed meeting you both Leslie and sbcanada on this board. There are many nice people here. We all got along great when the board first opened. I'd like to see people get back to feeling like they enjoy being here.

I'm glad, s4 I just wondered because of where it was. I don't know why that's happening, sorry that you're feeling it, maybe people will read this and think about it a bit.
I am very happy with this board's progression so far, and except for a few ugly threads (and posts here and there) , think it is all going along nicely. We've 3 boards (or more) and people from different ages, backgrounds and countries all flung together at once. Might take a bit for the dust to settle as we learn how to get along. People taking responsibilty for what they post would be a start, hurtful posts, threads make for bad blood all round. I think we can make a good place here.

It would be a better place if some people would learn to respect other people's feelings and expressions and not blow a fit because of something they personally think is offensive, when that is only their interpretation and not everyone's.
This board suposedly supports freedom of expression, but there are some who can't get that through their head. An OT site, because of its freedoms will inevetably have its fights and arguments as people express themselves.
If you don't like something, then shut your pie hole or prepare for a flame war. As long as it is not porno, warez, or excessive swearing and personal putdowns, anything goes here at OTC.

humour is subjective but the response to your work was fairly unanimous. sometimes you can hit it too close to the bone.
freedom of expression is something nearly everyone supports. but the nature and appropriateness of that expression is the question. if my expression is to repeatedly wear a ss uniform and goosestep around auschwitz then it is my freedom to express that. it is however, tasteless, inappropriate and deeply upsetting.
express yourself, but do it within the bounds of taste, and if you upset people do not be surprised to have them angered and respond.

I thought the cartoon was in bad taste but that alone would not have prompted me to respond the way I did.
What really got me was your response to it all and the spiteful attitude throughout every one of your responses. It was painfully obvious that you consider no one's feelings but your own. It clearly showed your underlying feelings about the US in general and saying what you did, even if you say it's not specifically about the American people, is going to meet with anger. I don't believe that you can seperate your feelings for the US and your feelings towards every American and thus, members of this board. That also is obvious to me.
I would never say anything about Canada and in that manner to you but maybe I just have more respect for your country and used to have that respect for you.
Don't expect to insult the US in a childish, spiteful way and have us be ok with it-or maybe that's exactly what you were counting on. Your animosity goes way beyond this one incident and it's apparent that it applies to all the American members here which is selfish and unfair.
You even went so far to insult Leslie because she didn't agree with you. You alone are turning this into a Canada vs. US thing. Everyone else has the maturity and respect not to do that.
Speaking of maturity, me calling you an asshole wasn't mature and even if I feel that way, I should have taken a step back before saying that. I could have expressed my distaste for your actions and your comments better. I shouldn't have brought myself down to that level and called you a name.
And S4, thank you for clarifying your stand on the editing issue. I realize that me calling him an asshole would stand out being it was one of the last things said before you posted. I was already on the defensive with the whole thread and when you posted, I was indignant and thought you were accepting everything sb said as ok but not my response. Just wanted to explain that to ya.
