David Keith Setser had bite marks on his forearm and told police that he held his wife, Judy, under water in the Great Miami River until "suddenly she just quit resisting," investigators said after prosecutors charged him Wednesday with reckless homicide in the woman's drowning.

Setser, 53, of 6042 Norwell Drive, West Carrollton, could receive a source :confuse3: 5 years?????!!!!! He gets a maximum of 5 years?????!!!!!

That is insane! In some states you'll get the death penalty for watering your flowers at the wrong time of day and this guy is getting off with 5 years! For murder! :grumpy:

?( Bizarre. Although they could increase the charges later after they get an official report from the coroner. It could be they selected a lesser charge just to keep him in jail.

Sounds like first-degree homicide to me. Holding someone under water until they stop resisting is a long process. Usually takes between 3 and 5 minutes, depending on how the person struggles, and if, in their struggling, they can get a gulp or two of air. Second...How could someone not know that holding another person underwater would result in death? :dizzy:

Well, in The Netherlands 5 years would be a lot.
It happens so many times that a husband kills his wife and only gets 3 years!

The justice system here really sucks.

Gato, you seem to know just a little too much about how long the process takes. Should we be worried?

As for the topic, cause I would hate to go off-topic, Surely they are planning on charging him with something else later, she was obviously resisting, he had to know what he was doing, unless he's just a total wacko.

Two teens stole a STOP sign and two cars crashed. They were charged with manslaughter and each received 20 years in jail with no option for parole. They were 17 at that time. This is in the United States. And I agree with the sentence.

I know about that because I like to snorkle. I can hold my breath, on average, about 3 minutes. One of my 'dive buddies' can stay under about 5 minutes. Thus, three to five minutes before you have to breathe. Add struggling, and you burn up more oxygen than just a simple dive. You can extrapolate for yourself the amount of time before a person is drowned.

Never said I agreed with the Dutch "justice system"...the sentences given in the US should be applied here too, including the death penalty.
That will make all those damned criminals around here think before they start f00king up thios country :mad2:

No it won't. All it'll do is fill the prisons. Stupid, and criminal people don't care what the punishment is. Honest, intelligent people don't need 15 year sentences to stop them.

The british had the right idea with australia. You can't operate within civilized society? Fine. You're out. And you don't come back. Shame they gave the crooks such a nice bit of real estate. The shetland islands would have been a better choice.

Oh I SO agree with you here. I didn't know there were capital punishment supporters in Netherlands. Right on!! :cocktail:

:mad2: :mad2: gato i dont know if you remember that thread at jjr512 you started on the justice system being too easy well heres an answer as to why i said it is too easy. he fucking killed his wife and gets 5 years??!!!! can we give him life? im sorry but id feel safer knowing someone could be cold and callous enough to kill someone they are supposed to love behind bars and not out on the street. hell im all for the death penalty in this case. not only that he confessed to it!! and it sounded funny as hell but i couldnt laugh. cause it happened. but he sounded so fucking stupid. he kept her there til she stoipped fighting. god thats just plain sick.
