This is a good point.

I hate to overstate the obvious, but the Media manipulates facts to promote their agenda (whatever agenda that may be at the time) and people fall for it because, hey, if it's on TV and [insert celebrity or news pundit/talking head name here] is saying it, it must be true.
 
As follows suit in the media, it took a whole story to get to a story.
