White House Evacuated

surprised this didn't get posted...even if it was only a 20 minute evac.
WASHINGTON-- The U.S. Capitol and White House were briefly evacuated Wednesday after a small plane entered restricted airspace over the city. Within minutes people were allowed back into the buildings.

Security officials in several other government buildings, including the Treasury Department and the U.S. Supreme Court, ordered people to safer locations. Military aircraft were scrambled over the city.

President Bush was away from the White House, biking at Patuxent Wildlife Research Center in Beltsville, Md. Vice President Dick Cheney, in the White House, was moved to a "secure location" elsewhere, said a senior administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Congressional leaders were hustled from the Capitol by armed officers. A Cessna 150 aircraft breached the security zone over Washington, law enforcement officials said, prompting alerts across the city.

And in breaking news, Cessna parts are located all over Virginia...

Yeah the 150 pilot needs a clean pair of shorts.

How cool would it have been if the fighters

I was gonna, but decided against. It's kinda anti-news. I'm waiting to hear once they've got the pilot on the ground.

Ahh, it'll be some nose-picking moron who turned the wrong way (pesky compasses anyway).

Radar quit? WTF does radar have to do with navigation. If he'd said GPS, he might be believable.

As if the entire DC skyline isnt instantly recognizable.

If his craft was broken, he should have put it down posthaste.

They fired flares, as a warning, and he responded immediately. 2 F-16s & a couple of Blackhawks. What a fun time for all.

Not to mention expensive. Fucking idiot.

The whole episode actually cost nuthin'

16's and Apaches burn jet fuel
the pilots are on salary
the people that got an extended coffee break
are government employees and don't produce
anything anyway.

The FAA has to work now. They were gonna yank their licenses but the lawyers said wait. Wait for what, I have no idea.

Of course, the Secret Service had a good time
The owners of the 1970 Cessna 150 single-engine plane discovered it was in pieces when they attempted to retrieve it from the Maryland airport.
