How's your garden doing?

For those of us who raise our own veggies, or at least try to.


Beans: F. Maybe 1 in 10 came up. Now 10 of 10 are tilled under to make space for something else. I'll have to grub some off the folks this year.

Onions: C. The ones the neighbor's damn dog didn't dig up are doing fine. I finally discovered the secret to get them to do well, and that fuggin Terrier messed 'em up. Anybody want a dog?

T'maters: A. So far every vine is alive and well and blooming or bearing. Should have some to eat in a couple weeks max.

Corn: B. Still growing, we'll see if it's too dry to yield anything.

Carrots: B. Plenty of tops coming through, too young yet to tell what they'll do though.

Radishes: A. As usual. This ground makes more radishes than anyplace I've ever seen. I keep thinning 'em out and pullin' up edible radishes.

Bell peppers: C-. Plants look good, but nothing yet.

Jalapenos: C-. I don't think they're gonna yield much, but I don't need many either.

Cantalope: I. Incomplete. Planted 'em late by design.

Cucumbers: B. Vines startin' to run out, a couple are blooming.

Weeds and grass: A. Dammit.


Sure could use some rain...

I didn't 'do' garden this year.

I have silage growing all over the front lawn though, which is not awesome. It's thriving.

Nothern gardens suck.

Nothing went in until Memorial weekend (warm April followed by wet & cool May)

Tomatoes (Roma x 30 & some indeterminate) & peppers (banana, jalapeno, bell & serrano) & brocolli are doing good. Planted some okra, cucumners, zuchinni & they're up. Planted some melons, pumpkins & tried cantelope...not a one so I bought some starters.

Also, started two varieties of sweet corn (no toothless jokes here ya buggers) & theyh're coming along. Don't usually plant corn-we live in Indiana, can you say redundant. However, it's been awhile since a truly sweet corn has been had. Awfully bland as of late.

We won't see anything until damn near August. (although the lettuce is doing good, the strawberries got about 20 lbs & the asparagus will be ready in fine shape next year)

been getting squash for a week, cucumber 2 days ago.
Beans died, peas are coming along, as is the okra.
Corn 1/2 OK, late planting due to come up Tues.

Tomatoes, coming off in a day or 2.

edit, also have huckleberries, plums, muscadines, blackberries, and rye growing.

I planted some forget-me-nots in a pot on my balcony next year. I noticed they were poking up through the dirt last night, I'm excited I've never grown anything before. Next year I'm thinking of doing some berries in pots on the balcony.

Garden's done for...time to compost what's left of the plants.. but I thought to show off my TomatOMG!!!

my tomatoes are still shitty little green balls. don't think they're going much further, either.

We had a bonanza of tomatos this year. Ended up composting more than we ate/gave away. Also had a good crop of zucchini and green beans. The jalapeno plants are starting to flower again. Don't know if we'll get anything more as its getting cold at night. The corn was a bust, didn't get a single edible ear. Didn't get many cucumbers. The broccoli did better than expected. The green peppers didn't get very big but were quite tasty. The eggplant is just starting to produce.
In case you were wondering, its a 20'x20' garden plot. Got a lot of plants in in a small area. I'll probably expand it in the spring.

I don't garden but my step dad does, and he did really good this year.we had so many tomatoes we couldent give them all away,we had about a box full of carrots and potatoes.his yellow and green beans also did very well, we love our greens at our house. on top of that the brussel sprouts are huge!!!
