Which part is upsetting you?

But Halliburton gets 26 cents a gallon for its overhead and fee, according to documents from the Army Corps of Engineers.

Halliburton's subcontractor had had more than 20 trucks damaged or stolen, nine drivers injured and one driver killed when making fuel runs into Iraq.
or
Although Iraq sits on the third-largest oil reserves in the world, production has been hampered by pipeline sabotage, power failures and an antiquated infrastructure that was hurt by 11 years of United Nations sanctions.

Yes Squiggy, I agree it complete & utter horseshit that our government is paying the price that Haliburton demands. On the other hand, if the America raping oil conspiring evil corporation wasn't there, would our tanks & humvee's still be rolling. Especially after paragraph 3 is put into context.

democracy is for the people. thus if they want a theocracy, church is state. same wiht socialism or communism. the democratic thing to do is allow it. and America has hex has said on here as well as so many others: America is a republic. but you are right in that the west has been feeling all countries should follow them.

Just a quick correction. Socialism and Comuunism aren't based on teh church or religion, but I get your drift.

Even if the West is right and democracy/republic/socialist states are the best in general...for us...doesn't mean that it's best for them.

For all we know, there's another form of GVT that's just itching to be born out of all this...one which might be even better than the 'west' has. We've all have decades to look over and fix our own problems, that we might have some advice to give out which will help midwife in a new "Best method".

Add another accomplishment

Iraqis demonstrate against terrorism

BAGHDAD, Iraq, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Thousands of Iraqis took to Baghdad's streets Friday condemning terrorism and urging a halt to political violence.

The demonstrators shouted "death to terrorists" and called for confronting and uprooting "this evil trend which is foreign to Iraqi society."

The march, in which an estimated 4,000 protesters took part, was organized by 30 minor political parties which are not represented in the U.S.-sponsored Iraq Governing Council.

I think if any of you had the slightest idea of just exactly what failure for the US in Iraq really meant you'd be a little more hopeful if only out of fear alone.

So true. We'd all be on our prayer rugs, bowing to Mecca. Or dead. In the bigger picture the US is trying to secure safety for the world. Someone's got to do it, and the US has a long history of stepping up to the plate. What would happen if we didn't? Can you say "nuclear, chemical, and biological?" Dirty bombs, poisoned water supplies, gassed subways, crop dusters loaded to kill, planes into buildings. The Middle East is the hotbed for terrorism, and the US is trying to establish a foothold, to make a presence, to let animals like bin Laden and Huessein and all their followers know that their behavior is not acceptable. They will lose their battle. No question about it. It's time for people to realize the battle is not about Left and Right, it's about our survival.

Sadly, i feel that we're going to have to learn the hard way. The day that extremists successfully launch a massive attack upon Israel is the day that more Americans and Europeans will wish they had backed the US. Israel will not be so lenient & patient with those involved as the US has been. They will respond swiftfully and forcefully, which is partially what the US is attempting to prevent. That day is coming.
