I should clarify that I am not surprised by the cost though...it will be almost as much per year or my mom to put my 17 y/o brother on her insurance as secondary when he gets his licence (in addition to what she pays for herself) as it will be for me to have my own policy.

Also, the additional she will be paying for my brother is almost double the additional she's been paying for me since I got my licence...

$1200 is good compared to what many of my friends with newer and faster cars pay. $2000+ isn't unheard of.

Dude, that is hella expensive...I'll only be paying about $1800 for full coverage on a brand new car (when I get a job and a car)...
