I have a REALLY strange problem

I did the trace on my dial-up.

The final line that came up was the IP you sent me, chcr. But the www addy was some called Rise of Tyrants.com

That's an online game developed by fury. We must be on the same server.

Now, something equally weird. If I get in here through dial-up, then disconnect, I can stay here. Read all the threads, post, and even edit --- as I'm doing now.

That happens because the operating system caches DNS resolutions, and since you resolved with dial-up and didn't reboot the proper IP stayed in cache.

That must be because caches have a limited number of entries to cache. If you visit other sites then those will take all the slots and hence eliminate the otc data.

Did you try using the opendns site?

Too cute for words
AFAIK, several sites are hosted on the same IP, just under different directories.
Exactly. I'm still betting a DNS server problem where it's having trouble resolving multiple URLs attached to a single IP (not up-to-date in other words), but try this:

Clear your internet cache, restart your browser and see if that makes a difference.

Wink, I have to solve inadequately defined issues all day long. And what browser (besides Lynx) doesn't put the "http://" in for you automatically?

It must be a DNS problem with the satellite connection.

Disabled totally? I knew new registrations were moderated... I didn't know they were disabled altogether. Unless he has it set to where you have to e-mail him to join... I'm not sure off the top of my head.
