oh ok, I'll check that out.

I just burned a dvd-rw data with mp3s last night with k3b.
It did a similar thing....
They seem to burn ok, but in nero if fails verifying, if it gets that far.
In k3b it seemed to burn ok. it just got dog-slow on the verifying.
It was going to take 3+ hours. :alienhuh:
It seemed to play ok though.

"Well documented" chic?
I see a lot of stuff about incd that I already knew, but I don't have it installed.

You got a link?

I have a backup image I made when it was doing fine. I thin it was before I installed mp10.
I may restore it, and do without mp10. I don't use it that much anyway.

looks like i'm late to the party. i'm using a 16x toshiba from newegg in a usb2 enclosure, i rarely have any problems with it. i used to use xcdroast, but it's a royal pain to set up so i finally gave in and installed k3b, talk about easy! it also does audio ripping and encoding to mp3/ogg/whatever, in a nice package.

Yeah, but what about the feeling of accomplishment when you finally get xcdroast to do everything? Okay, okay, I'll try k3b.

I like k3b. I've just got to get used to it.
I'm still wondering about this drive I've got right now.
I've got to do some more testing.
I just restored that Aug backup I had of xp, when it worked fine.
I'm going to test with it for a while before I go back to linux. :nerd:

Thanks for stopping in and giving some input tommy. :)
You're probably one of the biggest linux gurus I know. :headbang:

Well after restoring the xp backup, I been burning data dvds, and cds. (R, and RW in both)
The only problem I had was trying to burn an Old RW that is only 1x-2x compatible,
and my burner only goes as low as 4x.
I'm going to try some dvd video stuff tomorrow. If it burns OK that means
it has to be a conflict with the other setup, and not my burner.

Then I'll have to track down and see if it's a software, or just a codec problem. :nerd:

heh, when you post something like this, sometimes you have to give me a poke, i'll go weeks without checking forums if something else has my attention, right now it's c++, hacking my xbox, and star trek armada.

Using Linux makes you that far behind? ;)
for some reason i've developed an odd obsession with it, even though it's a crappy game engine with braindead AI that tends to crash at critical moments.

i tried armada 2, for about 20 minutes, and canned the cd. there's actually still people playing armada (1) on WON.net.

I have pin-pointed the problem.
The vorbis ogg, divx, and lame codec versions were clashing.

I've have bad luck with liteon in the past....way back.
I've heard over the last couple of years they've gotten good.

I am atually looking at this one (SOHW-1693S) but I've going to get some more input first.

I thought linux was Charie Browns best freind...
What, have you found out different? :D

I'm very impressed by this drive now...
I've got some old generic dvd-rw 1x that were the first lots I ever bought.
My old toshiba would burn 1/2 of them, and my optorite wouldn't do less than 2.4,
which won't work on these.
I though it was just a shitty batch, but this new Liteon is burning 4 out of 5 so far,
and there stable so far.
