It'll be too late by then. It may be too late already.

Move on, nothing to see here: it's only French youths acting out against authority....

Oh, the irony. This is happening in a country that profited and enabled Saddam Hussein and Muslim terrorists for decades; see how multiculturalism's downside is al-Taqiyah....

The French used to flatter themselves for the success of their policy of assimilation, which was supposed to turn immigrants from any background into "proper Frenchmen" within a generation at most.

As the number of immigrants and their descendants increases in a particular locality, more and more of its native French inhabitants leave for "calmer places," thus making assimilation still more difficult.

In some areas, it is possible for an immigrant or his descendants to spend a whole life without ever encountering the need to speak French, let alone familiarize himself with any aspect of the famous French culture.

The result is often alienation. And that, in turn, gives radical Islamists an opportunity to propagate their message of religious and cultural apartheid.

Some are even calling for the areas where Muslims form a majority of the population to be reorganized on the basis of the "millet" system of the Ottoman Empire: Each religious community (millet) would enjoy the right to organize its social, cultural and educational life in accordance with its religious beliefs.

A reporter who spent last weekend in Clichy and its neighboring towns of Bondy, Aulnay-sous-Bois and Bobigny heard a single overarching message: The French authorities should keep out.

"All we demand is to be left alone," said Mouloud Dahmani, one of the local "emirs" engaged in negotiations to persuade the French to withdraw the police and allow a committee of sheiks, mostly from the Muslim Brotherhood, to negotiate an end to the hostilities.

It is now clear that a good portion of France's Muslims not only refuse to assimilate into "the superior French culture," but firmly believe that Islam offers the highest forms of life to which all mankind should aspire.

Ramadan is over.

The intifada is in full swing.

Why haven't the moderate peace-loving followers of Islam spoken out against this?

Yeah and Ollie North sold arms to the Irainians
(while they were at war with Iraq)
and then took the money to support the contras

if he'd been a Demorat he'd have stolen the money

that guy deserved a medal!!!

It would only be status quo, as they just "want to be left alone" and French authorities should "keep out" of certain neighborhoods.....

In an apparent show of solidarity with the Republic of Iraq, French President Jacques Chirac has officially changed his last name to Chiraq.

A presidential spokesman said it was a humanitarian move designed to show empathy with France's ally.

However, political opponents charged that the name change is actually part of a multi-billion dollar sponsorship deal between the two nations.

Somehow I think that if Muzzlims started to riot in the U.S. in an attempt to take over neighborhoods, the effort would be over before it could start---and I don't think that libs would be very happy about the way it would end.

You never, ever see race riots in the US.

Anyway, these riots started when 2 black kids were electrocuted to death in a power station, after allegedly being chased there by the police.

It's not about America, Iraq, Islam or anything, it's about deprived people being angry about something and going about it in the wrong fashion.

The riots began on October 27 when two Muslim teenagers ran from police who were checking identification papers — why they ran is as yet unclear. The police did not chase them, but evidently the teenagers thought they were being chased; they eventually hid in an electrical power sub-station, where they accidentally electrocuted themselves. That night young Muslims took to the streets for the first time, throwing rocks and bottles at police, burning cars, and vandalizing property. The next day rioters, throwing rocks, bottles, and Molotov cocktails, injured twenty-three police officers in the Paris suburb of Clichy-sous-Bois. The violence continued over the next few days: more destroyed vehicles and injured police officers. Then on Sunday, October 30, a tear gas shell hit a mosque, further enraging local Muslims; French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy stated somewhat cryptically, “I am, of course, available to the imam of the Clichy mosque to let him have all the details in order to understand how and why a tear gas bomb was sent into this mosque.” Since then the riots have continued unabated, defying appeals for calm from French President Jacques Chirac and others. The crisis now threatens to swamp the French government.

It's not a race riot--it's jihad
