Alright, so what?

Pretty much all the conversation here has to do with either defending or belittling current American policy, and the current American administration. Frankly, it's the same retoric day after day, and it's bored me to tears. So, let's try something new. What would you do, if you lead America?

Post an issue relevant to today, and your solution. The solutions of other may be discussed (not ridiculed) and the larger picture addressed, but only after you've posted your own solution first. I'll ask an impartial mod to remove any posts not following those guidelines. Ridicule, insult, and :bs: will not be allowed either.

The floor is open.

I'd legalize or decriminalize marijuana, tax the shit out of it, and stiffen the penalties for driving under the influence.
The tax revenue would be amazing and would negate a lot of criminal activity clearing room in jails- dealers, users, cultivators etc.

Only for individuals in the military...sorry but I agree with the drinking age at 21 but if you are willing to serve and die for the country I think you should be able to have a brewskie.

i would make it much easier for more extensive nuclear power development in the US and give huge tax breaks for R&D investment dollars in non fossil-fuel whatever.

then i'd start on educational reform...

Speed limits are not supposed to be under federal jurisdiction. Neither are liquor laws.

Yeah. And 55 is a completely unrealistic number. Is there anyone here who always goes 55mph or slower on the highway?

These are the extent of the "issues relevant to today" that you people are willing to take on? "I wanna drink, I wanna smoke pot, I wanna drive faster"?

Dear Lord, no wonder your politicians ass rape you every 4 years. C'mon people. Drop a pair and take on a real issue.

What have you got to complain about? Your speed limit is 75mph and your drinking age is 18.

I would cease any activity by the United States with the United Nations & demand their withdrawl from American soil in one year.

The inept, corupt, ineffectual beauracratic mess that the UN has become. It is pointless to continue an organization who makes demands then refuses to back them up. It is immoral to allow a world body to act in the best interest of the wallets of thsoe involved while millions (billion?) suffer under dictators & fascism as this organization stands by idly.

I'd have them move because NYC could use the real estate.

They're not. But the feds CAN tell states, "sure, you don't have to lower the speed limit... sure, you don't have up up the drinking age... we also don't have to send you federal highway funds."

As for me... I'd electrify the US-Mexico fence. Post warnings on both sides in both English and Spanish so they have fair warning.

I suppose there is a reason that I am not a politician
And I don't want to smoke pot and if I did I would just do it like it did before. I just see it as a boon to the economy and a way to clear the clogged penal system.

There's my answer right there. Return to the jurisdiction of the states what was intended to be theirs in the first place. Clarify the distinctions between federal state and local and enforce it. Also, the Supreme Court lifetime appointment needs to go. 8-10 years is enough.
