Netflix has that movie on DVD. It really is a hoot. I know some of the people in it. Not much has changed since that movie was made - the town looks pretty much the same. Everybody knows everybody. I have had mail delivered with just my name on it - no address.
The deal about people cutting off their limbs for insurance money - they were cutting off fingers, not legs. The town has the nickname "Nub City" because of it . . . you still see old guys around town with a digit or two missing.
When Errol Morris came to town to make the documentary, he had to drop the idea of a film about the insurance scams, because the locals threatened to string him up. So he made "Vernon, Florida" about the locals themselves.

Caity, if you ever read this, I didn't really give altron a play-by-play description of our sex life.
As for how I did it... we went to her favorite spot downtown and talked for a bit, then I did it there. She knew why I was there and she still cried when she said yes. We'd been working on stuff for the wedding for a little while... I just hadn't gotten a ring until Monday.
So far, the plans call for June 23.
