80gb Hard drive for THREE BUCKS?!

Hehe... if I was over there I'd take the chance too, but can you imagine the shipping charges to the UK? Not to mention the VAT and excise duty!

Exactly.........if that was in the UK I'd have bought a truckload, gotta be a good profit flogging them to the unedumacated :devious:

well I ordered 4 of them...... I expect to see a e-mail soon to say what a mistake it was, and would I like to re-order at a slightly higher price :swing:

You have received this email from AxionTech.com because
you have ordered one or more Hitachi 80GB IDE hardrive for
$2.95. Unfortunately we can not honor your order due to incorrect
pricing from our distributor. One of our distributor sent us
price file every night. Last night their pricefile contained
this Hitachi hard drive for $2.00, our server apply our profit
margin and round it up to the nearest 95 cents. As the result the
price was $2.95. Being able to synchronize cost with our distributor is priceless feature.
But today it has proofed that our distributor mistake(s) could
domino effect our pricing. AxionTech.com is not trying to perfom any bait and switch technique.
This was an honest mistake and was never planned or done intentionally.
In fact we spent several hours fixing this mistake on Sunday night. We have cancelled and refunded all orders. No charge will ever appear
on your credit card. Again we are sorry and we apologize for your inconvenience and time. Please call our Sales Department using the number below for any question. Sincerely, Axion Sales Department

WTF does THAT mean, apart from the fact that you ain't getting the drives? ?(

Oh, I see... some stupid bugger priced them wrong!

Axion Price : $74.95

I had a feeling it was too good to be true!

If that was based on a UK server they would by law have to honour the sales.

Oh well, nice try anyway..... :D

yea their pricing is automated from their suppliers. buggers, im disappointed they didnt honor but i figured if they did catch it we were screwed.

Well just consider how many emails they have probably had to send out this morning 'cos of that mistake.... :rofl4:

:mope:

I had ordered 10 of them intending to sell them on fleabay for 1000% profit.

:mope:

Hey, that looks JUST like the email I got. :D

They did get a few card numbers though.
I'm calling to make sure nothing is accepted on that card for a while. :gun2: AxionTech.com

If it were a regular store here in the US they would also have to,
but being the internet, I'm not sure how the law applies.
My mother said, if the site is US based they still have to honor it.

Honoring a mistake is to a point. An obvious blunder needn't be honored anywhere. A $75. HDD for $50, that may pass the muster but a $75. HDD for 3 bucks...the judge would laugh you out of court.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

But telling you it would be $3, then upping the price to $75 and charging your card the $75 would definitely be illegal. That's why the guy who wrote the e-mail emphasized the point that no charges would show up on your card.
