Many major pornographic movie producers, including the industry's largest, have agreed to shut down sets for 60 days because two stars tested positive for the virus that causes AIDS.

At least 45 men and women were under voluntary quarantine because they had sex with the HIV-positive performers or their sex partners, said Sharon Mitchell of the nonprofit Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation.

The first performer to test positive was “conscientious” about having HIV tests every three weeks, she said. Last week, he tested positive for HIV and a follow-up test confirmed it, Mitchell said.

Mitchell also confirmed that one of about a dozen women the performer had sex with in films also tested HIV-positive.

The Los Angeles Times identified the performers as actor Darren James and actress Lara Roxx.

they are supposed to screen for that in the actors. and also some but not all have the actors use some form of protection

The girl who caught it (apparently from the Darren James guy) had only started working seemingly a few months ago.

I guess that's just a risk of the business. I saw an article yesterday that said the stars were willing to go on back to work already....

It's not a job per se...it's a series opf contracts. So, I'd guess that if they want health insurance, they'd better get it themselves.

I've read somewhere (though I can't find the link) that some porn actors have gotten selective body parts insured against damage.

BTW... most porn, being the fantasy industry, doesn't use protection...mostly because it's not part of the make fantasy to have to use a condom. It's unconscioneable...but true.

There are a few studios that do use protection... but most studios are small-time businesses that need as much in sales per flick as possible, so they don't use rotection. The same place I read that (I don't remember where) also said that gay porn routinely uses condoms.

The hard core, non-cum-shot I've got on satelite almost always uses condoms for vaginal and anal, but oral seldom, if ever has them.

Oral isn't the issue though. The chance of getting HIV from oral sex is so small that it may as well not exist. The person giving head would have to have an open sore in his/her mouth for even the smallest chance. Transmission through ingestion would require a liter of infected sperm...not ruddy likely.

Most money shots happen outside body cavities anyway...on the face, breasts, belly or butt.

Makes me wonder if the HIV wasn't caused through sexual intercourse, but through IV drug use.

If he sticks it in without rubber, the pre-cum could carry it too, even if he pulls out and does a money shot on her tits.

Another Woman Who Worked with Darren James Tests HIV-Positive

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. - Another woman who had worked with Darren James has been found to be HIV-positive. AIM Healthcare Foundation (AIM) declined to identify the woman, saying they were legally prohibited from doing so since everyone who had worked with the woman in question was already quarantined.

This new HIV-positive diagnosis brings the total number of victims of the virus during this outbreak up to three. Darren James is believed to have caught the virus around March 10 while working in Brazil. The twelve women that worked with James during the time he is believed to have been HIV-positive were placed on the "first-generation" list, and their partners were placed on the "second-generation" list.
