Wow, I'm amazed you feel that way. As for the vampires being gay, I didn't see it like that. I think part of it is the more open behavior that you do what feels good, not what society deems to be right. That is part of the whole of a vampires existence, pleasure.

As for the depth of the characters, some are rather shallow, but others of very well written, I think.
