He accepted everything this administration was shoveling as gospel truth, how smart could he be.

MrBishop said:This summer should get interesting, but not necessarily for the reasons that Gonz has laid out. On the 30th of June, the Iraquis take over...that is, the new Iraqui GVT takes office and that's about the time that all hell will break loose in Iraq. If the coalition of the willing had any illusions of being able to leave this summer, they'd best re-draw their plans.
The main issue: Who will take over and how long will the civil war last?
There are three main groups in Iraq, other than the coalition soldiers; Shiites, Kurds and Sunni. The Sunni Arabs (the minority) held power under Saddam Hussein, but their power-base is gone. The Shiites, who have about 60% of the population claiming membership, will want to take over. The Kurds will want their own area (something they havn't had in decades) and the Sunni will want to retain some control. Each group has it's own military (of a sort), and it's own leaders, not to mention the individual groups within those 3 sections with their own agendas.
The Shiites, who have pretty much lef the Americans do what they will, think that as the Americans withdraw, that they will naturally inherit the greater power. The Sunnis aren't about to let that happen, and the Kurds will try to seperate into their own country.
Can anyone say "Civil War" ?
I knew that you could...
