The two phones, we can get a freestanding rack and throw them on it, shouldn't be too bad. I can throw a seasonal or three back there to keep an eye on it.
The printer, we'll probably just throw them in a pile on the floor somewhere.
The gameboy, that's gonna be iffy. We normally lock them up, for security reasons. No way is that gonna fly on black friday. Maybe if we put them in a bin at the Music register, and have a seasonal just ringing them up, it will work. Or we can spider wrap them and put them on the floor, then throw one of the CSAs at the door as Loss Prevention and make sure that nothing walks out without a receipt.

CDs and DVDs, well, looks like 23 and I are gonna have a field day late Wednsday night setting some bins. We already have a shitload of them in the cage boxed up, marked for Black Friday.

The trick is gonna be planning out the seasonals well. Probably going to end up assigning each an area. Wednsday night, I'm going to scout around the store and find out where every single sale item is located, then put them into lists, and hand them out to all my seasonals. I want them to be asked "Where's the $129.99 19" LCD?" and they can say "Right over there", without having to look for themselves. That was my biggest annoyance last year, and now that I'm in somewhat of a managerial role, I'm going to make sure that it's not a problem.

The angry mob comes rushing in. About 95% of people are asking for those four items. Too bad the managers didn't feel it necessary to inform us of the location of two of them. The 69 portable DVDPs we have in stock are gone in 20 minutes. We only got a few people going for the $20 polariods, but we later found out that there were two pallets of them in the front.

The problem lies with the two items we don't have in the aisle. We think that the other people have them. They think that we have them. People get stuck in a loop. They'll ask us where something is, we direct them across the store. They ask the salesmen across the store, they direct the customer back to us. Since we can't leave the aisles, it sucked. I think it reflected poorly on management that they did not show us the locations of the special sale items, which were located in pallets around the store. Until about eight, when we were able to leave the aisles, we weren't sure where the stuff was.

Gonna need to address those issues this time around.

We'll be relying more on blocked off aisles, mobs of people, and general chaos to keep people in the store for longer. The store layout isn't that logical, and the signage is pretty underwhelming, so it's always difficult to find stuff. If a customer can't find a product and can't get someone to at least give him a general idea of where it is, he's gonna walk out.

We're in a big shopping center. There's a Bestbuy, CompUSA, Staples, OfficeMax, Radio Shack, Gamestop, and EB Games within walking distance of us. It's not like we're gonna have people browsing around for an hour at our store. If they can't find the things in the ad they want, they're walking over to Bestbuy.

We're not making it ridiculously easy to find things, but we don't want customers to get too frustrated, or they'll leave.
