Haven't been back in southeast Alaska for a week yet and i'm already looking for things to do since i'm not working yet. I think i'll build myself a new computer case. I'm still looking for ideas but right now i'm thinking of making another wooden case maybe in the form of a small suitcase with a glass front. I have some of the same material left over from my last case which is called p-lam. It's about 1/4th of an inch thick and has the appearence somewhere between partical board and marble. It's actually used to make counter tops and the like. The only thing i don't like about my current case is that being wood it tends to create bass from the fans and so sounds like a humming bass box all the time.
I'm thinking of using some type of insulation below the motherboard this time to suck up some of the vibration.
I guess i'm just thinking out loud here. Any thoughts?

How about foam rubber for insulation? You know the thin sheet kind like they pack RAM in? I would think that would cut the fan noise considerably.
