Canada inching closer to becoming 51st state.

I would actually like it if Canada could become the 51st state (or 51 to 60). All the advantages of American citizenship, protection, economic policies, more right wing politicians, American TV, etc., without all the bullshit from Ottawa. Any thoughts?
 
You mean Canada isn't the 51st state yet? Seriously, I think we have similar enough ideals we could do it. The biggest problem would be to get your government officials to give up all their power. That and re-privatizing the health care industry.
 
They will need to totally scrap the Canadian "constitution". Its piece of shit anyways. And burn the Pariament down, the system sucks anyways. Fire the Governor General and Queen, and send senators and representatives to Washington, D.C. Completely redo the health care system which is a joke right now, and scrap just about every law there is in the federal government. Quebec can join if they want as a state, but they won't get special priviledges. All treaties with the Indians will be carried over. Treaties made with Canada will become void, and the maple leaf flag might be what the Confederate flag is to the south, just a symbol. It doesn't sound that bad to me. Canadians at this point don't have a national identity, and Toronto is more Chinese than Canadian.
 
Hell no.. Thats too much coastline to guard and we don't need the wheat. We already have too many state names and capitals to memorize in school. You wouldn't believe how many kids today would rather face a world with the Soviet empire and only have one capital to memorize rather than have to think up: Estonia, Latvia, Belarus, Armenia... 26 countries and capitals in all .. and most of em' are funnier sounding than Welsh.

Free eh? Well, lets see. Aside from the 8 hour waiting time in the ER because of a heart attack, and aside from not having beds for most people, and aside from the fact that drugs ain't free, and aside from the fact that nurses are always bitching and striking, and aside from the fact that the paramedics almost striked, and aside from the fact that people die because there isn't enough people, and aside from the fact that there are months waiting lists, and aside from the fact that doctors take only a specific number of patients, and aside from the fact that there are more dentists and stuff under the free enterprise compared to the controlled doctors, Canada's free medical system is pretty good.

Yes I am. It sickens me to see what the government is doing. Years and years ago, if a Canadian singer/group hit the top 10, Americans took notice because it means they are good. These days, they ignore it because... they know it is fixed. X% of all content on radio and TV must be Canadian. Why?! Are we so pathetic that we need the govenment to tell us what to watch or not to watch so we can stay Canadian?
 
Its not free healthcare in any case. Its paid out of the general tax base which comes out of everyones back pocket anyway. Its just a shell game.
 
Not everyone wants to be American, aren't you just a guest in Canada btw? Thought you said you didna want to impose your beliefs and culture on other peoples? :confuse2:
 
Some of us :eek: actually like it here and are in general :eek: happy *gasp* with the way things are.
 
I think most Canadians would jump in the ocean and swim away before they let that happen.

LL what if it were the other way around? What if the US became a Canadian Province? I think that's just as likely as Canada becoming a state.

My boss was trying to look cool in front of some guests from Canada the other day and said, "They should make Canada the 53rd state." and I said, "The 53rd? Can you tell me what 51 and 52 are?" lol what a maroon.
