Canada's little soap opera

...and they did it all during the finals of American Idol so that noone would take notice. Clever.

I can't waste time thinking about the government.

Pass the remote.

In a pigs ear! There was no way that she would've gone leader in the Tory party. Too liberal

She had the PC votes, he had the Alliance votes. He won. Most of the PC weren't happy.

Harper wasn't about to give her a post...he didn't like her. She had a popular vote but hadn't actually 'done' anything. Her popularity had come from her stance. Socially liberal and economically conservative. Her pro-samesex marriage stance and her pro-choice stance would've kept her out of the Tory limelight. She's got far better odds with the Libs, especially if she doesn't bollocks up the Gomery Commission's recommendations/findings. Bringing in a economical conservative into a weakened liberal support in relation to their finances.

She's made a smart jump, but sure to piss off a lot of people. Hell, on AM800, the afternoon DJ (Kim) called her a "Backstabbing bitch" on air. Got some flack for it too.

So...

The vote ended up a tie of 152-152, and the Speaker broke the tie in a cliffhanger longwinded bunch of blahblahblah, and the government survives. Till the next time the opposition gets righteously indignant.
