DAMN :(
A COUPLE were today arrested on suspicion of murdering missing ten-year-old schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.

It is the first time police have admitted they fear the girls are now dead.

Cambridgeshire Police said a 28-year-old man had been arrested for murder and abduction, and a 25-year-old woman had been arrested for murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Hebb told a press conference in Soham that items of major importance had been recovered during a search of Soham College.

The couple were arrested in the early hours and are being held at separate police stations.

In a statement, Mr Hebb said: "In the early hours of this morning, police search teams recovered from Soham Village College items of major interest to our inquiry to trace the missing 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.

"These items have been preserved at the scene and will be subject to a comprehensive forensic examination, a process which is likely to take some considerable period of time.

"Meanwhile, the search of the entire site of the college continues.

"In the last few hours, a 28-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman have been arrested.

"The 28-year-old man has been arrested for the murder and abduction of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.

"The 25-year-old woman has been arrested for the murder of both girls.

police this evening have said that they are 'as certain as they can be at the present time' that the bodies are those of the two missing girls.

they say that they may not be able to make a positive confirmation until later next week. as a mark of respect to the small community in which this happened bbc and sky news teams are to pull out of the area.

very sad. :(

these stories are so depressing and also they piss me off! this is exactly why i want to go into criminal psychology. id like to know what any of these killers in all the stories were thinking(if they were thinking at the time) and see if theres a way to stop shit like this before it happens. these stories are so fucking sad and pathetic. i say pathetic cause it reminds me of how shittty the human race can be and how some people are just well for lack of better words(or cause this seems to hit the spot jsut right with me) sick disgusting fuckheads who need to be killed off(not to be taken as violence however i feel we should protect the innocent no matter who and no matter what those girls did nothing that i know of and were so young they didnt deserve this.)

Geez, freako104, you sound a little confused...

You can't have it both ways. I am for the death penalty, but with due consideration...

1. 3 appeals and you're done. No more waiting 10 years for an execution.
2. Executions are to be done in the quickest way possible (firing squad), and any useful organs go to the organ donation programs.
3. Any and all property belonging to the condemned belongs to the family ( or families) of the persons directly affected by the crime in equal shares.
4. After the execution, and organ harvesting, the body is to be burned, and the ashes buried in an unmarked grave.

my mistake, he's been sectioned and charged with murder. sectioned is remanding in mental health facilities. he was due to be in court today but was deemd not well enough to attend.

his girlfriend has been charged and appeared in court today with perverting the course of justice.

I'm guessing something like "Hindering Prosecution" Or "Tampering with Evidence" here.

i knew most of that except for the third and fourth statements you made. i am for it too with the same consideration however i do feel that if convicted there had to be overwhelming(sp?) evidence of guilt but i am willing to change that if it turns out to be fradulent or if the evidence is tampered with faulty policework etc. now i personally dont see why the gf gets 20 years he gets put into a mental hospital when they are responsible for death. i agree with LL but LL just so you know: many states do still have the death penalty only prob is that some feel it voilates the 8th amendment.(in case you cant tell im all for it if guilty)

i think that the current situation is that police are waiting for the caretaker to be declared fit enough to attend court so he can attend trial. i don't think the sectioning will last long.

her indictment on charges of perverting the course of justice seem to indicate that she had no direct involvement in the adbuction and murder of the girls. it appears that she covered for him, providing false alibi. whether she knew the full extent of what he'd done i don't know, but i'm sure that the police would have got her manslaughter if she had been directly involved.

Accessory after the fact and obstruction of justice would likely be the charges here, then.

The first could put her in line for the death penalty.

this is only vaguely about the story but i think it's intersting, and shows how much it has got into the uk psyche. both girls were manchester united fans, and went missing weraring man u shirts. early on inthe investigation for them, while they were missing, david beckham [england and man u captain] made a personal appeal for their return.

all the football matches this weekend are to hold a minutes silence as a mark of respect for their loss, and the players are all going to wear black armbands too.
at the newcastle game this morning that is 65,000 supporters, all the way down to a couple of thousand at kidderminster and exter.
i've been to games where minute silences at football matches are observed and it is breathtaking, no-one makes noice, even with teams that hate each other with a passion and have drums and bands in the stands. it is an amazing thing, and i am glad that football teams and fans have decided to make this, albeit small, gesture of respect.
