That average includes a large percentage of the worlds population living in third world nations. These people live in squalid, filthy conditions and if they aren't starving, they're right on the edge. I'll bet they use less than 2. Not suggesting that anyone should try or want to live that way, but I'll bet that's where they get their average.

Edit: Note that the poll is aimed at Americans. As Gonz says, trying to make you feel bad.

Wow...if only. I wear size 13's, and that'd save me a whole whack of cash on footwear alone...er...

I'm not doing so bad, though they don't mention recycling anywhere. What happened to the 3 R's ?
