Favorite silly love song

OK, it's Valentine's Day. A time to spend bucks on someone you care about and let them know your emotions have a price tag.

Being the music fanatic I am, I got curious. What is your favorite silly love song? Do you and your significant other have one that is "your song"? If so, what?

My favorite would probably be an oldie but a goodie...I Love You by Climax Blues Band.

AE and myself kind of adopted a bluegrass song as "our song"...Erase The Miles by IIIrd Tyme Out.

Had we had the ability at our wedding to have a song played (long story...), my choice would have been Rose Of My Heart, another IIIrd Tyme Out song.

So...let's hear 'em!

Heres a tip: If you really like a song never make it "our song" because when you break up you will never be able to listen to it again.

but with my ex it was "Rome wasn't built in a day" by Morcheeba

I always liked Through the Years by Kenny Rogers.

Kinda sad now, but still a lovely song. The lyrics always hit home for me.

Through The Years
Kenny Rogers

I can't remember when you weren't there
When I didn't care for anyone but you
I swear we've been through everything there is
Can't imagine anything we've missed
Can't imagine anything the two of us can't do

Through the years
You've never let me down
You turned my life around
The sweetest days I've found
I've found with you
Through the years
I've never been afraid
I've loved the life we've made
And I'm so glad I've stayed
Right here with you
Through the years

I can't remember what I used to do
Who I trusted whom, I listened to before
I swear you've taught me everything I know
Can't imagine needing someone so
But through the years it seems to me
I need you more and more

Through the years
Through all the good and bad
I knew how much we had
I've always been so glad
To be with you
Through the years
It's better everyday
You've kissed my tears away
As long as it's okay
I'll stay with you
Through the years

Through the years
When everything went wrong
Together we were strong
I know that I belonged
Right here with you
Through the years
I never had a doubt
We'd always work things out
I've learned what love's about
By loving you
Through the years

Through the years
You've never let me down
You've turned my life around
The sweetest days I've found
I've found with you
Through the years
It's better everyday
You've kissed my tears away
As long as it's okay
I'll stay with you
Through the years

The whole Erase The Miles thing was just too appropriate. When we met we lived in the two states mentioned in the song even.

I know what you mean about breakups though. To this day certain songs carry baggage. No real way to avoid it that I know of.

Hmm...
The Wedding Song--Peter, Paul and Mary
Maybe I'm Amazed--The Beatles
Some Kind of Wonderful--Grand Funk Railroad.
Those are the first that immediately come to mind.

Our song is The Dance by Garth Brooks as performed by me (nobody ever said she was rational).

Oh, and Silly Love Songs by that McCartney fellow, of course. ;)

Maybe I'm Amazed was solo McCartney, not Beatles. However, he was a Beatle still when he wrote it.

Oh, smarmiest (and therefore my favorite) breakup song: Second Avenue by Art Garfunkel.

Ahh, I was busy dealing with puberty at the time. :lol2:

You'd Think That People Would Have Had Enought Of Silly Love Songs.
But I Look Around Me And I See It Isn't So.
Some People Wanna Fill The World With Silly Love Songs.
And What's Wrong With That?
I'd Like To Know, 'Cause Here I Go Again
I Love You, I Love You,
I Love You, I Love You.

I Can't Explain The Feeling's Plain To Me; Say Can't You See?
Ah, She Gave Me More, She Gave It All To Me
Now Can't You See, What's Wrong With That
I Need To Know, 'Cause Here I Go Again
I Love You, I Love You.

Love Doesn't Come In A Minute,
Sometimes It Doesn't Come At All
I Only Know That When I'm In It
It Isn't Silly, No, It Isn't Silly, Love Isn't Silly At All.

How Can I Tell You About My Loved One?
How Can I Tell You About My Loved One?

How Can I Tell You About My Loved One?
(I Loveyou)
How Can I Tell You About My Loved One?
(I Loveyou)

My vote goes to a little ditty off Ace Frehley's solo LP from his KISS days, Rip It Out. A close runner-up would be She's A Bitch by Lord Tracy. :evilcool:

Also being a Beatles freak, In My Life, Maybe I'm Amazed and Silly Love Songs are all classic, along with Julia (even though John wrote it to his Mom), Something, Got To Get You Into My Life...just to name a few :D

For newer songs, I'd have to say Hotel Yorba by the White Stripes and Oh by Dave Matthews (solo) are my favorites right now.

Martha My Dear is good, too, and it was written for a sheepdog.

Two old songs - they aren't "Our songs" by any stretch of the imagination, but they'll make the cut for wedding songs.

"Time in a bottle" - Jim Croce

If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day
Till Eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you

If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then
Again, I would spend them with you

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with

If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you

But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with

"The Anniversary Song" - Al Jolson

Time in a Bottle is an excellent song to get laid with if you're a musician (probably even if you're not). ;)

Hope I didn't ruin it for anyone.

This is my kind of love song now.

So if you want to love me
then darlin' don't refrain
Or I'll just end up walking
In the cold November rain

About 3/4 way through.. one of the best instrumentals, ever.

Only Love can Break Your Heart By Neil Young.

When you were young
and on your own
How did it feel
to be alone?
I was always thinking
of games that I was playing.
Trying to make
the best of my time.

But only love
can break your heart

I quoted a few lines out of that song in a letter I wrote to the first girl that I ever really did love. After I put everything I could into the relationship, she breaks up with me (after over 1 year) won't talk to me, won't tell me why until I find that she was cheating on me with some asshole.

Almost two years have passed, and I still feel anger when I hear that song.

Forgot that one. They say memory is the first thing to go. I can't remember what the second thing is...
