OK...I went the route I wanted to go originally but thought that I wasn't a,llowed to. Yanked the old drive, slaved it, put it in the DELL machine, drag/droped the files, removed drive and voila...30 mins. WOluld've been faster but my mum-in-law was hovering.
I have to say this though...DELL is anal retentive like I'd never have believed before. Almosr zero room to upgrade, all unused wires are capped and strapped, there is a grand total of 1 free bay (for the floppy that she didn't think of adding in), no free slots on teh HD cable, 1 free slot on the flat cable for the floppy. The MB card slots are plugged up and there are no empty DIMM slots.
Almost zero room for manoeverability, upgrade, mods etc...
Not my cup of tea...at all!
