Finally...equality

Too bad.

Internal Army documents advocate changing Pentagon rules on mixed-sex units in a way that critics say will risk placing female soldiers in ground-combat situations.

The Nov. 29 briefing to senior Army officers at the Pentagon, presented as part of the service's sweeping transformation of its 10 war-fighting divisions, advocates scrapping the military's ban on collocation — the deployment of mixed-sex noncombat units alongside all-male combat brigades.

The briefing contained the phrase: "The way ahead: rewrite/eliminate the Army collocation policy."

I don't know. You get a bunch of women pissed off and give em guns. Doesn't really sound like a bad plan to me.

Consider countries where they have woman in the armed forces in comabt units...like Israel.

And they are quite effective, are they not? I think the only problem with women in combat is that they say our guys will be more protective of them, putting themselves in more danger. I think this would have been true 10 or more years ago, but not so much today. Particularly if the guys see that these women are as highly trained as themselves, and can take care of themselves.

"See those Iraquis over there...they say that you look fat in those pants" :lol2:

About fuckin' time. It they can hack the program, let'em fight! What's the alternative? Female only corps like they used to do with the 'colored corps' ?

I agree totally. Eliminate the 'gender equalization' we've had since the 1980's, and let the women compete for a spot, just like the men do. No more, no less.

Israel does its best to keep women out of combat situations. There were a number of years where they tried this but they weren't satisfied with the results. They have about the same perception and experience with woman in combat as the United States although they've been forced to seek more drastic measures and seek a greater amount of resources from their population.

We argued about that while I was inthe service. Being on tanks it was a Combat Arms branch of the service. I think it might be a problem in some cases simply because you have four people ina tank. Four people who become very close over a period of time. I'm not saying that any kind of relationship would emerge, but your typical tanker is an idiot. Plain and simple, most combat arms personel are pretty brain dead. I can see some idiot tanker wanting to "get some of that" and decides to rape her. All the guy would have to do it lock the damn thing from the inside. Granted, that's probably a worse case senerio, but fratinization would probably be more a of a problem than anything else.

On the flip side, I've seen some woman in the service that I wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley. I've seen woman in the weight room and in the boxing arena (I got my ass kicked by a woman once in the ring). I personally see nothing wrong with it, but a lot of what if's need to be taken into account. What's going to happen when a woman cries help and ends up be a liar? What happens when a woman accuses a man of rape but it urns out it's false? Of course, there is always the opposite as well.

One could also take the Soviet Union into consideration. Look at the woman in their armed forces during WWII. Very interesting stuff there.

More publicly accepted, sanctioned, illogical double standard. If you want something, and get it, you take the good with the bad. Otherwise, I want my mortgage payment dropped to what I was paying to rent a shithole duplex before I got this house. It is 100% bullshit for women as a group to advocate that they can do anything a man can do, lobby for decades for admittance, then try and hide behind their gender. You want in, you're in...now grab that gun and get to shooting just like we're expected to do. Otherwise, stay out. My theory on many more things than this as well. I'm about sick of separate equality. It's equal or it ain't. Mathemetics does not allow for equal except for this or that. Equal means equal.

I cannot begin to count the number of times I've tried to make this point. It seems so simple, why do you suppose it's so hard for some folks to understand?

Selfishness. Look around. The world is overrun with with this "Except for me" attittude. It ranges from illegal parking at the grocery store in a fire lane "Because I'm only going in for a MINUTE" to death row pleas. People have somehow decided that they are above other people, yet they can't ever admit that because to do so would fuck up so many of the other things they like to be heard saying. (Notice I didn't say "believe", just things they like being heard saying.)

It's as bad as the "I don't therefore I'll make sure you can't" crowd that is rampant particularly around Christmas.

Also too bad. Aren't we progressing nicely?
