At least they've left a good stockpile of parts. I tried three places yesterday to get the header pipe for my father's Mitsubishi Mirage. None could even order it in. Looks like it's either the dealership, or have one fabbed up at a muffler shop.
Even if VW did not make those parts, independent manufacturers would. The market is still there. Besides the regular guy with his car, there are huge groups of beetle collectionists who call themselves vocheros.
