Gun control eh? What about this?

Nope, pull a gun on me, and you die. Pull a knife, and you die. Attack me hand to hand, and you will get hurt.

Given my background, from a very violent country, I'm pretty much an instinctive killer if you try to stab me or shoot me.

Attack me hand to hand

Depending on how small you are and how big the attacker is, that would constitute deadly force in some states, including mine. Shooting somebody in a simple fight isn't right, but if it were life/death situation...

If you're alert, i don't think the thief will expect you to be slower when pulling his gun...if he tries to pull his gone, you'll have time to shoot him before HE can pull the trigger.

I've been threatened verbally multiple times around here...some people actually wanted me dead while i was just passing by...for no reason.
Just yelling "I'm gonna shoot you" isn't enough to kill that person. I would most likely beat the crap out of him if I could.
If he actually pulled the gun, and I would be quicker, he'd be dead.

The laws are corrupt. They try to protect the criminal.

1. If the perpetrator had a gun, and made the threat, then he deserved to die. If not, then the bow-hunter is in serious trouble.
2. I agree with prof. Rights belong to humans, not animals. If you endeavor to steal, rape, murder, or threaten there-of, you have lost your humanity, and deserve whatever you get.
3. It may be 'just a car', but things have a way of snowballing. Let him/her get away with the car, and you don't know what you're letting loose on the general populace.

Defense of your car really isn't the same as defense of your family.

Also, a criminal does have rights. They have the right to a trial where they will be correctly punished. Killing someone vigalante (sp?) style for stealing your car isn't right.

gaunt the reason i said as i did is that his fam could have been in the car. no shit they have rights. i didnt say they didnt. they dont deserve the rights but they have them. 8th amendment to the constitution says no excessive bail and cruel and unusual punishment. 5th amendment. have the right not to incriminate yourself. im taking a criminal justice class and they have many rights that we discussed. but im sorry that they dont deserve the rigths as they perpetrated a crime.
freako, correct me if I'm wrong, but you have some strong feelings on this issue, huh?
yes i do puter i hate it when people blame something like shit when the real problem is the perpatrator of the crime. the criminal is the one who should get the blame but people will say that they victim went too far when he shot the guy with an arrow. im sorry but the only other place ive ever seen such bullshit is in the great plains and ive never been there. dont blame guns dont blame arrows dont blame the weapons blame the criminal.

He's in the right according to Texas law. Gun or no gun.
But the rest of the US isn't Texas (thank God). ;)

I do admire his skill, though. It takes a lot of practice to 'snap-shot' a bow like that.

Texas law throughout the USA and Canada.... OK OK you are allowed to dream right? :D Utopia... or pretty damn close... :D

Untrue. Everybody, unless being stabbed, shot or beaten to death, is considered innocent until proven guilty. We have prosecutors to have those that are guilty proven such. We have courts to guarntee a fair, safe & speedy trial.

It's an imperfect sytem with serious flaws. It is the best system around though. Not all accused are guilty & I would prefer the guilty set free than the innocent in jail.

actully gonz to an extent it is true that they protect the criminal. criminals have far too many rights. i can understand the suspects having rights but if the perpetraor gets rights, then what about the victim? they have rights too but they were taken away by the criminal.

I feel that, once you are prosecuted, the only rights you ave are protection from cruel and unusual punishment and the rights to an appeal. No rights to sue, no rights to color TV, no rights to cable, etc. Give them sledge-hammers, and give them rocks to break, or make them farm their own food. Once they are released, they get most of their civilian rights back, depending upon their offense.

i agree for the most part but fuck the 8th amendment. they took away a victims rights so they dont get any.

Do you even know what the 8th Amendment says, you?

Amendment VIII
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

Victim of bow-arrow shooting is identified
A would-be car thief who died after he was shot in the buttocks by the vehicle owner using a bow and arrow has been identified as Bryant Keith Kay, age and address unknown.

Kay died Friday at Memorial Hermann Hospital, a few hours after he was struck with the arrow in the 9500 block of East Mount Houston Road.

The owner of the car said he was hunting when he found Kay in the vehicle, then shot him when Kay got out and pointed something at the hunter.

I guess they're satisfied with his story.

yes i am quite aware of that. i need to knwo it for class so yes. plus laypeople tend to know that, the 5th, the 1st and the second. why do you think i said fuck the 8th amendment in cases like rape molestation and murder?? what they did goes beyond cruel and unusual.
