... and this is just a question, but has anyone else noticed that over the last week McCain has spent a great deal of time calling Obama names and whatnot? I could be wrong - and I'm sure I am - but I haven't heard Obama call McCain any names. Now, in case you're wondering, I'm not pro-Obama .. and I'm not bashing on McCain ... I actually think if those two made one person THAT would be an awesome President :D ... anyway, I'm still not sure who I'm gonna vote for though I am liking a lot of what Bob Barr stands for (and disliking some too) - thanks Gato for pointing him out. Anyway I'm just wondering if anyone noticed that .. and if I'm wrong, please correct me. It doesn't mean anything, just irritated me :D

Yep! Noticed it! McCain even has Palin doing it! AND, McCains faces he makes :laugh5: hillarious!

I wondered, has anyone ever noticed, when Palin is talking, deosn't it seem as if she is ending every sentence like its a question? Like she's REALLY NOT sure of herself. Whenever i see her or think of her reminds me of this cartoon...................

I think it's been going on longer than a week but it is certainly getting more and more pronounced as we approach the election. The simple fact is that they've lost and they know it. They figure their only hope is to scare people out of voting for Obama. It's called grasping at straws. I think it's more fun to watch the back-biting and finger pointing among the various republican campaign "leaders." Actually Mare, the campaign has been trying to reign Palin in but she's pretty much beyond their control at this point. I think that they think she's making it worse rather than better.

Eveybody does that amd makes up lie so they can take votes away from the other canidate, this should be expected it is getting close considering election day is less then a week away.

I'm not sure what you mean, Nalani, Calling him a socialist because of his actions & beliefs isn't "calling him names". Is he saying Obama is a shit-for-brains, which would be namecalling?

Just because one isn't using 5 year-old language and calling someone a doo-doo head doesn't mean they're not calling someone names. I would have thought you knew that seeing as how it happens in here all too often.

I don't think that saying someone is a (fill in appropriate label here) is namecalling.

He is a socialist. Everyting about him & everyone around him is ultra-liberal.

Calling BUsh a liberal is not namecalling. Calling him an idiot, is.

Sorry Gonz. When you use liberal or socialist as an epithet (as you and many others clearly do), that is in fact name calling whether or not the labels actually apply. Pretending that's not the way you meant it is bullshit.

I'll ask it again though, what will your reaction be when a real liberal or a real socialist shows up?

I think the point Gonz is trying to make is that if it's true, it's not name calling, but if not...

So this argument would be long because of the opinion factor.

If you intend it as a "dirty name" cat, then it's name-calling regardless. It's like Paul being jewish for example. Depending on what I mean when I say, "He's a jew," it can either be an epithet or a simple description. I think it's pretty obvious what many of our members mean when they say "liberal" or "socialist," now isn't it?
