How's your garden doing?

just picked up my new pipe. (a little early)
I guess I'll stretch it out tomorrow, if it doesn't rain me out.:beardbng:
 
WOOHOO!!! It's teh end of June & we finally got something (lettuce :( )

stupid midwest weather
 
my lettuce looked really good, and I kept waiting for it to head,
but it never did.
I think the local hardware guy that told me it would head was wrong.
I coulda had some of it, and it looked good, but it's going to seed now.:confused:
 
I just pulled off my first cabbage, and man it smells good.
I got a tomato too, but I'm going to let it ripen in the windows just a little more.
The plant I got it off of was a little small, and already has 3 more on it,
so I went ahead and pulled the big one so it can get more resource to the rest.
 
We're fighting this year. Tomatoes looked good, but last months hailstorm shredded everything. Killed the lettuce and spinach. Radishes, onions, chard, zucchini, squash and the herbs were pretty bad, but have begun bouncing back this past week. Tomatoes are still about half what they used to be, and aren't seeing much new growth. We need rain badly, still listed as being in an extreme drought with every day in the 90s and 100s since May.

That said, I've already got two more bed locations flagged for putting in this fall. Just wish I could get a handle on this damn zoysia and bermudagrass.
 
we just got off a few tomatoes today, but they are "drought era", and look rough.
The new ones coming along look much better, and we have better watering means now. :hippy:
 
So far I've gotten about 15 ears of golden corn off, and it looks really good.
I just not go ~5 dzn silver queen, and they don't look so good, but better than nothing.
With the mini-drought, then 4 heavy wind storms, I just about had to pick
the silver queen ears on my knees. It's a wonder we go anything there.
I think we may get 3 more loads about the same.
I hope the last later planting makes better.

Crowder peas, and okra coming off regular now, and we've had 2 really nice tomatoes,
and several small ones.


the ram pump is working great.
 
The corn is almost done now....one more run left.
We got about 10 quarts so far.

I'm getting my spots mapped out for the late root crop, and greens planting.
Got pumpkins planted a week or so ago.
then

Radish
potatoes
onion
turnips, and greens(kale, mustard, and collard)
cabbage
lettuce

we have our first cantaloupes finally showing
Regular tomatoes still coming off, but not vary good this year.
The cherry tomatoes are doing good though, just more work.
. Peas and okra are coming in slow, but picking up.

Well, I've run this thing long enough that now a problem has developed,
but/and I can see where I need to make modifications.

It seems the pvc spring loaded check valve is 'particular' and periodic cleaning
will be necessary.
So, I'm going to put another union in so I can quick-change the valve with
an alternate for cleaning.
Then I'm going to also put in a cut-off valve upstream, which I should have had to start with, but I was testing...
 
well, I just got a few small spots planted for my late season gardening....
Celery
Iceberg lettuce
Broccoli
Cabbage
and some Radishes

I'm going to try to get my onions, carrots, mustard(and other greens),
and some leaf lettuce in, in the mornin' before the rain
 
I saw plans for a hoop house in Mother Earth News. I'm going to try making one this winter to start my spring crops early. The only difference will be that I'll put a shade cover over the top. Most of Mother's articles are for folks who live further north and don't have blistering hot summers that fry your veggies on the vine.
