I hate Christmas

Well, now that my favorite holiday has come and gone, now I have to deal with Christmas. I really hate this holiday....I guess if it didn't last from October 31st till January 1st, I wouldn't hate it so much....

It's just that every year is the same. You walk around town and every store has a friggin Santa or some other decoration up around Halloween and they don't come down till January sometime. Constant bombardment of holiday "cheer". Long ass lines, moms going at each others throats over some lame ass blue light special on isle 9, little Tommy is bawlin' his eyes out cause he isn't gettin' the G.I. Jow with kung fu action....

Thank god for the Internet though. Order all my crap online. I could give a rats ass if it's what the little brat wants though. Here....take the damn present and be friggin happy.

crimbo

but ain't it grand, getting to see all those drooling old relatives you haven't seen all year... hmm...

actually the best part of christmas has to be christmas cake.

anyway, it's really for the kids (assuming you're not a religious type). I liked it when i were a lad, and it may be boring now everyone's a bit older, but hey, we're doing it for the kids.

could always move to thailand, they don't do christmas there.

I don't do relatives on christmas day, I go to see them beforehand, give them their presents and warn them to stay away. Then I have a nice quiet, civilised day with my daughter watching whatever I want to watch on TV - she's usually playing with her new toys. :D

If you got my family all together in one room WW3 would break out.

eg:

Sunday Lunch and Minefields

Battlelines drawn,
snipers hid
behind the roast chicken,
potatoes and two veg.
Aimed angry words
that ricocheted
between walls, sated
with the blast
of yellow cling peaches
and cream.

Amid the steady clash
of hand to hand,
gravy dripped from
the bloodied knife.
Keen tongues duelled
until, wounded
beyond recovery,
defeat sounded
with the retreating door.

I am going ot newfoundland for Christmas this year.

My mom's whole family is gonna be there at one point. Only about 5 or 6 of her siblings (there are 10 including her) for Christmas day and they rest will come after for my grandparent's anniversary party on Dec 30

I am just eternally thankful that we are staying with my Dad's mom and not with my mom's parents and basically her entie family. *shudders at the thought* :circle:

The trouble with my family is that they just don't get on so I prefer to see them seperately. It's got bad since my dad died, my mum just can't stop criticizing everything and everyone which causes rifts and arguements with everyone else. Except me that is, since I'm the only one who sees her on a regular basis I guess she has toned it down a bit and I can usually steer her onto other subjects. Actually I'll probably ask her to dinner if she's not doing anything else, but she'll probably make some excuse, she usually does, so....

Christmas...
I hate those santas that are EVERYWHERE. I hate christmas shopping, its always so crowded and we always go into boring stores! Of course, almsot every real-life store is boring, internet ones rule! I'm getting Diablo II for christmas from newegg! :D :D
I HATE all that stupid music - like in the holiday song thread.
So what I'm getting down to is that Christmas is good, get Diablo II, visit my cool uncle, have a friggin AWESOME new years party in Vermont, etc...
But I don't like those stupid christmas celebrations before christmas. And why is Sabta everywhere? everyone past elementary school knows Santa is just your parents. My mom wanted me to include hyperlinks into my christmas list (TT Crystal Orb, Diablo II, and Soldering Iron) so "Santa" knows where to buy them. :D

Feck Chrismas sucks. Loud crappy adds on TV, over priced goods, getting your family to gether and having to keep your mouth shut to "keep the peace". :grumpy: It's the most commercialized holiday of all, which is a pity coz it does have special meaning but thanks to retailers trying to make a quick buck it's lost all it magic.

The one thing I like about christmas is seeing my daughters face light up on christmas morning. That makes all the crap worth it. :)
