Irony

Perhaps they should go all out and offer cold hard cash for abortions. Your choice ... $200 cash... or a new color tv.

When people hear "planned parenthood" clinics...all they think about is "Abortion"... it's like a red flash before their eyes. This thread started as a statement about how the PP clinics are relying more and more on the moneys from abortions to stay afloat. Hmmm.... strange that they didn't mention what other services that PP provides that needs financial support.

like:

family planning counseling and birth control

pregnancy testing and counseling

gynecological care, Pap tests, breast exams

emergency contraception

HIV testing and counseling

medically accurate sexuality education

screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections

infertility screening and counseling

voluntary sterilization for women and men

reproductive medical exams for men

safer sex counseling

midlife services

abortions or abortion referrals

prenatal care

adoption referrals

primary care

referrals for specialized care
All of these services are offered cheaply to anyone who comes in. Many of them charging under cost for the services. Yeah..they provide more abortions than any other clinics... it's known to be a safe place to do so.

Anyone think of a good reason why all of these services should be stopped for the sake of stopping one which is decidedly unpopular with the right-wing?

Here abortion is free (along with any other treatment) for all... as long as it is deemed a suitable option.

The doctors don't get paid for performing abortions in England? Strange.

I guess there is a concept of being a net consumer... but the taxes overall... (long boring talkin' down atcha speech)

I'm one of the poor who benefit out of this system the last few years.

I wasn't always though, we were the lower middle class fucked up the ass consumers at one point.

and even then, I still wouldn't have had it any other way.

I won't comment about this procedure, but I'm glad we have this system. I was glad to contribute to it when I did, and am glad now that I direly need it that it's there for me.

oh. and our taxes aren't really any worse if not better than those in many states. so *shrug*

No kidding. I wouldn't live in those states. :) I can only handle so much blind corruption. I don't see why people would willingly tote 3 times the tax yoke for no extra effect.

Hell if I know. Its a growing state. Theres always room for more jobs. Its just a shame that Atlanta is the largest city with only one newspaper. They've managed to run all compettitors out of town on a rail by undercutting prices until they go bankrupt.

You would most likely have to take an assignment in some backwater podunk villa to start. If you get noticed, you are off to the races. Suddenly you wake up like Debbie Norville making 400 million a year to sit there, read copy, and show a plunging neckline.
